I have tinnitus also. Drives me crazy as well, mostly in the evening and night when things start to quiet down. The more quit it gets, the louder the ringing.

Endoc, can you recommend a specific custom mold material to use for molded earplugs? I was reading about Insta-mold at the EAR site, but was wondering if there are differences in attenuation with the different materials.

I've been wearing these for trips longer that 1 hour. What a difference they make! For example, on the first Snakes to the Lake, I wore no ear protection and later at the end of the first night my head was aching! Since wearing these on long cruises, I have not had this problem at all.

I must add that this past March I was victom of a nasty rear-end accident on the hiway driving to work. Since that accident, my ears have been ringing like crazy. I was examined by an audiologist who told me that I will have to live with it for the rest of my life. So, interesting it was a severe jarring to my neck (I was rear-ended, then hit the car in front of me - air bay deployment - I felt like a crash test dummy) that led my my Tinnitis no matter how much I protected my ears on long drives in our Cobra.

Dave, the silicone ones by instamold should be fine, the sound atenuation levels provided by them are very good, however, Chipperb is the real expert in that field, I just operate on bad ears.
Randy, it was probably the combination of the impact and the noise of the airbag deployment that zinged your ears, combined with many years of noise abuse that probably had you tetering on the verge of tinnitus for a while. I banged my left ear while hunting in mexico, and I should know better.

Vincent,
I'm not sure which one I got since I had a shop do the installation and I didn't order the parts in this case. If interested, give them a call or shoot them an email. The big plus, is that they don't sound like Flowmasters and they offer a nice compromise on noise. Not too soft and not too loud. I'm told they'll pass the noise test at Laguna Seca, but I haven't verified that claim yet. I'm also told that they flow better (less restrictive) than the standard Cobra sidepipes, but I haven't verified that claim either.

Fordzilla, I love your statement on "LIFE!" , it's right on.
If I live to be 90, I don't care if anything actually functions as it did when I was 25...I just want to get there.
