Trustworthy Transportation Company?
Wow, I put in an internet request for quotes from transportation companies to transport a car from TX to CA.
What a wild bunch of responses! from requesting deposits to talking trash on other companies. Can anyone recommend a transportation company? Not necessarily lookin for the cheapest but want the car taken care of. Thanks Ryan

All have shipped cross country for me, east to west, north to south and vice versa. These are currently the only three I use exclusively for all of my auto moves.

I have used InterCity Lines on three moves, very professional. Would not hesitate in using them again. Their web site has an on-line cost calculator:

Now that you mention it, he was talking about the possibility last June when he moved me to Atlanta. That is a shame. Great service and a great guy.

Yes, I just got confirmation that Rich and Doug are still closed for car business. A friend needs a car hauled from Austin, TX.

I used DAS and they sucked donkey balls. Whoever you decide to use pay the extra for an enclosed carrier! www.transportreviews.com is a good site for carrier reviews.

People have said, raise your prices. which is easy to say but hard to do and keep somewhat competitive with the big guys. Also too many delivery guys running in the grey area by not having all the permits, registrations and insurance so they can be the least expensive. Please beware of these guys! We prided ourselves on the fact that we did everything by the book and were legal, which meant your cars were much safer. We are keeping the corporation of Rich's Classic Transport alive so can get back in the game if the economy gets better. For now Doug is working for a local transport company hauling general freigth between terminals. For me, I am doing an owner/operator position with a local transportation company. Will be transporting meat from the midwest to CA and Texas and bring produce back to grocery warehouses in our region.
Again, Doug and I would like to thank all our loyal and good customers for their support and hope to be able to be back in the "cool" car transportation business again. Your friend, Richard Lacy

Thanks
Thanks for all of the responses, I have actually contacted 20 plus carriers. It seems as if you get what you pay for. All of the reputable and most recommended carriers are pretty expensive. The ones that are cheap seem very fly by night. And i have learned never give a deposit!
With gas prices coming down I will probably make a weekend of it and go get the car myself with an enclosed trailer. Thanks again! Ryan
