Does anyone know of or own a Pacific Coast Cobra?
Does anyone own or know anything about Pacific Coast Cobras? I think they are an older builder and not making Cobra's anymore. I am told they were a knock-off of West Coast Cobra's. Please provide pictures if you have one. Thanks.

Vui at Pacific is a live and doing well. I have a Pacific Roadster Cobra that we got running Sunday. Nice Car and a fairly straight forward kit to build.

I know quite a bit about Pacific Coast Cobra...I worked there for nearly the entire time that they existed....I ran the weld shop....did all the fabrication for the cars...from the frames, to the headers, to the gas tanks....etc...
A guy named Billy Clausen was the owner....we operated under Billy's main Co. "Custom Engineering"..
I have many cool Pics from back in the day of various Cobra's in different stages of assembly....
Let me know if I can answer any questions for you....

Yup... That there is a textbook example of diversifying your business product!  A source close to the 'ol chicken farmer sez that he keeps visiting that site with intentions to sue but then he gets caught up in the darn linger-ree section and fergits all about trade dress infringe ments... so maybe it's just good strategy!

This Redlands, California company made replicas of the 289 FIA and 427 Cobras. Their frames were 1.5" longer than the 90" original for a bit more interior room, and they had live axle or optional independent rear suspension. Pacific Coast made another Cobra version called the 460 that was the same as the Stallion from Eagle American. It was built on a longer 95" wheelbase.

My wife wondered if Princess Sandra From West Coast Lingerie and CoBRAS had as much fiberglass on her front end as the Cobra did .

My dad owns a Pacific Coast Cobra. We are trying to track down some information on the build and other info. Anyone want to share information please send us message through the forum. Its 1984 with a 289.
finally got time to sit down and look over in detail the Pacific Coast Cobra brochure you got me. According to the brochure the cars could be built per Stage I thru 3.
Stage 1: front is a Ford double A arms , etc. including disc brakes…this is not what I have. Rear is Ford 4 bar Nascar with drum brakes…this is not what I have.
Stage 2: Coil over subframe assy with adjustable coil over adjustable shocks..again this is not what I have. Rear same as stage 1.
Stage 3: designed and engineered to usage and customer specs. Now I have talked with the first owner..he bought 2 of these, lived in Lousiania and owned a lady’s lingerie manufacturing facility. He bought the cars for he and his wife. The wife did not end up liking driving the beast and he sold it. His he intended to drive back and forth to work but that did not pan out very well as it rained too often down there so he sold the car. Now I do not picture this guy designing these cars to his specifications.
The bottom line here is I am wondering just what I have. The frame seems to match their picture, same with the wheels, seats (same as Stage 1 pic), and dash. The car has the Pacific Coast vin #.....so just how did this car come to be…with MG knee front shocks and a Jag independent rear end? Interesting

I met a guy the other day was at a show in Bear Mt NY, he asked me if my car was a West Coast Cobra, my answer was a dubious yes. I say this because I have seen WCC (modern ones ) built by Vern which does not fully resemble mine. He kept on looking at my car and stated to me that based on what he was seeing and the year of manufacture (1984) my WCC was in fact a Pacific Coast Cobra. He also stated that Vern purchased PCC and took the manufacturing to Canada where he resides now.
I was also sent by another forum member the instruction manual for Kellison which is very close to what my car looks like. At this point I don't have a clear proof is it a Kellison, a PCC, or a WCC. I can't find any manufacturer plate anywhere on the body of the car only the VIN #. There is a VIN# plate and model inside the engine bay that reads 65 Ford 2 door Convertible which was also on the registration that I got from the previous owner in California. This is also how it is registered in NY.
Any thoughts that could help me clarify my doubts.

My WCC was first registered in 1991 and, while there are many similarities to yours, there are some differences as well.
- Rear Suspension: Our rear suspension appears identical, with the exception of the lower control arms. Mine are modified LCAs from the original 1978 Thunderbird axle (cut, bend, welded and reinforced in a manner consistent with that described in the Kellison build manual), while yours appear to be custom fabricated. Neither of ours appear at all like those shown on the WC Dreams Web site.
- Roll Bar: The curves on your roll bar appears to have a larger radius than mine. Mine is 2.5" O.D. - is yours the same diameter or larger than that?
- Engine Compartment: Biggest differences here. Mine has a chrome-plated steel box where the steering shaft exits the cockpit. I also have chrome-plated individual trim panels, where yours has what appears to be more of a continuous panel of aluminum that starts on one side then wraps around to the other side.
Yours was built in 1984, 7 years before mine, so many of these differences may have been part of the natural evolution from the original Kellison Stallion design to the WCC. The one thing that seems to be an evolutionary anomaly, though, is your lower control arms. As I noted above, mine are the same as shown in the Kellison manual, though my car is newer than yours. Have your LCAs been replaced?

I agree, no the LCA's are the ones were with the car when I bought it. All this said I still can't be certain as to the manufacturer of my car????

That car looks real close to a Butler. Interior is almost identical, the placement of the engine, steering column, and even tire widths. If the frame is 1.5" longer wheelbase, that would be another coincidence. |
