Real1,
I had a cammer sitting in the garage on a stand for 4 years. My Hi-Tech Cobra with the 427 wedge motor was parked just 2 feet away. Many times I looked at the Cobra and the cammer and thought,"Wrong car for that engine." I had thoughts of the cammer going into a Mustang, but it never materialized. I sold the engine to a fella who intended to do just that. David |
Cammer and a Mustang. Much better fit IMHO.

Shock towers & braces are an issue, but it will fit. Good luck!

SOHC is the perfect engine for a Cobra; very happy with it.:):)

Have any of you SOHC Cobra guys driven them on a road race course? If so, I'm curious as to your opinion of the car's handling. I'm definitely not an expert on road racing, but having driven at Mid-Ohio and Summit Point tracks, my wedge-head 427 definitely produces enough under-steer that I'm always aware of it. The additional mass of the SOHC engine would probably be felt!
There may be several groups of opinions within this thread. Some may lean toward Looks and some have a preference for Performance. Many years ago, around 1995, I spoke with one of the principals at the original Hi-Tech in Arizona. He drove a customer-owned Hi-Tech Cobra that had a SOHC engine in it. I asked his opinion of the car. He stated it was a great straight-line car. David |
I think this would look good in any Ford engine compartment I owned. Thanks FullthrottleAl.

I'd love to road race my car but Cammer Cobras probably don't qualify for bailout packages, TARP funds, too big to fail or whatever it's called these days.

I'm a straight Line guy so I would say Cammer- OH Yeah!

I'd just love to have a Cammer for the WOW factor and the uniqueness. Dee in Austin has one and out of 65 Cobras at a lunch, that motor was the most photographed thing all day. It's a tight squeeze, but man is it cool looking. And a totally unique sound too.
Anyone try a Boss 429 in a Cobra? |

To each his own.
I'll stick with my little ol' 427SO |
