Yeah, It can probably be repaired, but then it's a repaired car. That's why it would effect value. Everyone would rather have it in the condition (& provenance) that it was in before the wreck. Yes, maybe the repairs can be done so they are not detectable, or atleast extremely hard to detect. But, they are still there. With the High dollar value of these cars, a seller would want to disclose any repairs so as not to be held accountable for any "surprises" down the line that a buyer might discover. A non-disclosure of this magnitude can be construed as fraud. Especially now that pictures are posted on the net for the whole world to see. How would you like to buy an all original pristine GT500KR & then some time down the road be shown the posted pictures of your car?! Yee-Haaa! I know I'd be hopping mad!! Anyway, I'm just saying the car is worth way more with just a repaint then with major surgery/reconstruction/restoration. But then again, I'm a nut. If it were mine, I'd cage it, bore & stroke the motor to the max, cut a huge whole in the hood for a 6-71 huffer to stick through & have the baddest GT500KR on the planet!

And then you would decrease the value of the car a heck of a lot more than the aforementioned repairs.  In my opinion, there are better cars to restomod (like a non-Shelby, non-big block Mustang).
Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

After a repair it will be on eBay as an "untouched original".............................

Oh, I know, but like I say, I'm a nut. I figured out life is too short not to drive what you want & do what you want to your car.

I am NO authority, by any means, but do maintain several original Shelby's for some customers. It's my impression that unless it is original, meaning untampered with( including paint), that the only provenance that makes the ka-ching is the Shelby one. Since it was already painted, and what was done in order to paint it, it probably already lost any patena that it posessed.I think a quality repair would matter less than you think.I know that 2 of the 4 I work on have had major impacts long ago. That didn't seem to alter their value over any other redone one. I imagine the body/interior stuff is less important than the unique distinguishing pieces that make the car a Shelby instead of a Mustang. The KR was probably the most Ford of all the '67 -'68 cars since it used a straight production CJ engine...no special manifolds/carbs...anything... the interior has a few unique parts, but the fiberglass is what really changes it..and that Shelby thing. The price that Eleanor clones were going for indicates that those that will spend the $$ don't care if it was whacked, as long as it was repaired correctly.
Now, I would be all over the transport company for the repair.. the insurance would have trouble "totaling" out a car with the rarity and value that has...especially since it is repaired the same as a Mustang. I'll bet the 'glass isn't any more costly than some original Mustang metal...

Zacctly, most folks would be suprised at what damage some of these cars have seen along the way, in the last 40 something years.......I've seen a few Shelby's that had this much or more prior damage and were repaired correctly and professionally and retained their value....regardles of the damage, it's still a Shelby and a rare one!!!!!!!!!!
It's only original once, after that, it's a restored car, nothing wrong with that, just the way it is, regardless how many paint jobs and restorations, it's still a Shelby!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hardly a "total" considering it's worth!!!!!!!!!! it will be repaired somewhere, by someone and may or may not have a different owner, I would not be afraid to buy this car if repaired properly..........
Most folks would be suprised to know some of their brand new cars have been damaged and repaired before every hitting the showroom floor......I've personally seen four that the owners never knew they had been damaged and were sold that way......fender benders happen on the assembly lines and gaint parking lots and bewteen the assembly line and the dealers............my wifes first car was one of these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
