Small Block Surge Tank???

How many of you guys want the look of a billet big block surge tank that could BOLT to your SMALL BLOCK! :D

We should finish the prototype this week. We will sell them for the standard $500. We will have a sale for 2 weeks and sell them for $400 for CC members. As you all can see, we are trying to listen to what you guys want and branch out and offer more products to the entire industry.

David

ps. For the next week, I will be working on a very special project, so I won't be able to answer this post. I decided I finally had to just block the time out to get it done!

Why? The 427 brass units fall apart, but the 289 style are bullet proof?

Yes, the brass units do fall apart. That is precisely why we made our tanks out of billet aluminum for the big block cars. We are just wondering if people want them for the small block cars as well as you need some sort of expansion tank anyway.

We will be offering the tanks with both left and right outlets. Original cars came out on the left, but there are many people who need them on the right as well.

We are still working on the billet big block as we get time. That is a pretty massive undertaking. Alas, not everyone can afford a big block and I think they have pretty cool cars too.

David,
I think it is a great Idea. I need one for my small block car. Will they be available at the open house.

Yes, they will be ready. So, I will extend the sale through the Open House.

I would buy one for sure. $400 is cheap compared to the frustration altering an FE model and having it leak after a few months!

David Kirkham 01-15-2009 11:41 PM

Those leaky tanks drove us crazy. We finally just gave up. They always blew up at just the "right" moment too...

I got the idea after I remembered that Hondas use an O-ring seal on their water pumps...hmmmm

Never had one fail and we have made a boat load of them.

I have heard rumors a small block tank was made in my absence!

so when you say small block, can we include 5.0L sizes tooo.

that is why i sold my setup. --it didnt fit on my 302.

LMH 01-26-2009 07:11 AM

I think the 289/302 block is too narrow for this type of surge tank but maybe I'm mistaken.

Too close to the distributer

I would like to get one, and would get one, except based upon the picture posted, it is too close to the distributer cap. I have the large diameter high performance cap and the tank would hit it. The tank should be moved forward, then I'll take one.

CobraEd,

Where would you like me to ship the tank? It fits the big distributor cap too.

550FLYER 01-26-2009 11:11 AM

I'd be interested, as I've been messing around trying to convert a brass unit to fit my 351w. Is this a direct bolt on tank? What else needs to be added or fab to make it fit?

David Kirkham 01-26-2009 11:22 AM

We did a massive revision last week. Now the unit is a direct bolt on. It replaces the thermostat housing. No more messing around--only to have it leak!

ps. pics coming up.

HI Cobra 01-26-2009 01:18 PM

David,

I'm in for one for the 351 - could you pm me any specifics for payment and
shipping. Thanks

David Kirkham 01-26-2009 03:18 PM

HI Cobra,

We are doing a little tweaking on the tank right now to make them just right. We should have them done in a day or two.

You can just give us a call and give us your visa info and we will get a tank out to you (and everyone else) as soon as they come off the machine.
