Larry H. Miller just passed away.

Well said Jbo, for the masses the car hobby was a very small part of him. He impacted many peoples lives in and about SLC. Employment, housing, and most importantly education and scholorships to help others better their own lifestyles. His family has vowed to carry on his legacy, but make no mistake he made a large footprint in the area. RIP

With out a doubt we have lost a true friend in the Cobra community and one here in Utah.

I would like to publicly say how grateful I am that he 1) kept these American Treasures in the United States and 2) shared his collection in a way that allowed me and others in the public to get up close to the cars and actually see and hear them run as they did in the day.

His involvement in the Museum in Colorado and his collection at the track have helped us preserve an important part of American History. The spectacular accomplishments of Ford, the drivers of the period, and the total commitment to be the very best in the world.

It seemed that he did that with all his ventures, probably why he was so successful. I cant imagine what Utah would be like without the positive things he created within our community. Many of us who race at his track are indeed indebted to him for caliber of race track he built, sparing no expense to provide a safer and faster race track.

Recently, I had the unique opportunity to work for Larry and his family at Miller Motorsports Park. One of the perks of my job was to talk with Larry in the museum about the cars, and the history of each. It was a real honor for me to give museum tours to the public.

You would think at major race events at the track that he would be spending his whole time in a luxury suite...but he didn't. In fact most of the time he was in his golf cart giving rides to strangers making round trips from the museum to the parking area. Just being super kind and Gracious to ordinary folk.

I can assure you that he imparted those same gracious qualities with his sons and family which truly will be his legacy. I hope all you if you get the chance visit Miller Motorsport Park here in Utah.

Sad to hear the news.
Goodwood was made more special whenever Larry Millers cars were there. My son and i were very lucky one year when he allowed us to sit in the Daytona. Thank you. My condolences to his family.

I have been a friend and employee of Larry H. Miller for 27 years and yes it is sad to see him pass but what a legacy this man is leaving to us all!!

Someone asked about the funeral arrangements and contributions so I will include part of an email I just received!!

"Checkered flag Larry," is a very fitting saying for this man!!


Memorial Services for Larry H. Miller Announced

SALT LAKE CITY (February 21, 2009) – Memorial services were announced today for Larry H. Miller, owner of Larry H. Miller Group of Companies. Miller passed away on Friday, February 20, from complications due to type 2 diabetes at the age of 64.

A viewing will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the EnergySolutions Arena, in the VIP room, 301 West South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101. Funeral services will also take place at the EnergySolutions Arena on Saturday, February 28 at 12 noon. Interment to immediately follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103. The public is welcome to attend all aforementioned services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Larry H. Miller Charities, for the benefit of women and children in need, 301 West South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101.

I never knew him personally like Terry Stapley did, but I have heard nothing but good things about the man. Some people with money and fame lose their perspective and values. I believe that Larry H. Miller kept his faith, values, and friendly personality. His monument is his family, love for God, and making the world a better place to live.

He will be missed; condolences to his family and friends.
