Pat I would also agree...
To put a different spin on things look at it this way.....The ZR1 with it's low production numbers puts it on track
with the L88's. It will likely become a collectors car in the
future and we don't know what will become super cars
under the current government. Sure they look similiar
to other Corvettes but they are not even close.
Ford has never built a production sports car unless you consider the Tbird of the mid 50's. Sure the GT was partly designed by Ford but it wasn't built by Ford. So it really is just another replica of something built in ancient times. Nothing special really.
Yeah I would take the ZR1 too.............

Agreed.
The Ford GT, not the GT40, is basically a poser car, IMO.
I was parked next to one recently and talked to the owner - he had no clue. All he was interested in was the fact that his car had a supercharger and a CD player. He said it was real fast.
Just look at most of the owners - Bony even bought one for chrissake!
ZR-1 is a serious piece of equipment.

What about it is a "Poser" car? What makes the ZR-1 a serious piece of equipment and GT not? You know more about cars than I do, so I would be interested in the basis of the opinion. (Not trying to light a roman candle under your a$$ )

Wheatie -
Did I say the GT wasn't a serious piece of equipment? I re-read my post and don't see that.
I say the GT is a poser car from the kind of people who buy them - to a person every owner I have talked to was more interested in how many people watch him then how the car runs. For sure they are fast - I'm not disputing that.

Pat, I always respect your opinion, but come on now. The Corvette is the undisputed definition of a poser car. Go to any car show and 9 out of 10 new Corvette owners are mid life crisis money guys with leather Corvette jackets, Corvette sneakers, Corvette hats, Corvette leather driving gloves, matching Corvette chairs, a die cast of their car sitting on the engine on a battery operated spinning plate, and COMPLETELY stock cars.
If I'm going to be a poser, I'd at least want to have an interesting car that people want to look at, even if I knew nothing about it.

Hey! I don't own a Vette jacket or anything else. Mine is my work car...delivering 24mpg during the entire 2008 year. The only mid-life crises I have that's associated with the Vette is figuring out how to get out of the sumb!tch when I really got to go bad.
That being said (and as I said earlier), it and the GT are both Hot Wheels cars IMO.

Turk didn't give you the cool Corvette jacket?
I distinctly remember seeing it when we drove your car. It was black leather, with C5 embroidered on the back in red with a Corvette in the "C", really nice, looked like it was at least a $700 item.
He said it came with the car.

X2. On the way to work this morning I thoroughly enjoyed the freeway off ramp at 60+ that was labeled at 30. I think the driver of the car at the bottom (that I approached rather abruptly before the stock brakes stopped her with plenty of room to spare) shiaat in his pants.
Say what you will about 'Vettes. They make awesome daily drivers. Still would rather have a FGT, but I'm blessed with driving my 7 year old Chevy.

I hope you don't mind Sal but I rewrote your message to reflect reality :

Implication is one was serious and therefore the the other not.
With respect to "Poser" status I would tend to agree with you. However, the agruement can be made that 90% of people who bring cars to car shows are "posers" since that is exactly what why they attend... to show off their cars. Some car show attendee's know more about their cars and some know less (I'll admit to this category). Some could car less about how they and their car looks (I am in this category) and some it is all they car about, regardless of the car they bring.
Just a thought.
