This is the part that concerns me. Are these older stories or more recent? I can't imagine that Canton's QC is that bad, is it? They have to have mechanisms in place to pressure test every component that they manufacture.

A hot tanking, re-weld and fresh powder coat is far less than a new one.

Red, My pan did not have problems with the construction of it. I scraped a hole in the bottom when I was giving my 300lb plus nephew a ride and bottomed out on some whoop-dee-doos...It is no fault of Cantons that I got a hole in mine. Droppoing the pan and welding it was not a major deal in the least. Should you decide to have your pan welded take it off and have it done OFF the vehicle. I decided welding it was the route for me since I have a welder and it was much cheaper for me to run a new bead than spend $400 for a new pan.

All three were bought new in the last two years. I don't intend to bash Canton, just point out that there are problems with even new pans.

Anyone know how to pressure test an oil pan?

I have 2 Canton road race pans in use right now, one on my 331 stroker road race car, bought used form a fellow CC member, so far, five seasons of racing, no leaks,no problems......

The other on my 65 Fastback, 351-W, been on the car for about 10 to 12 years now I guess....1,500 miles or more of open track running, over 100 1/4 mile drag passes and 25,000+ street miles, so far, no leaks,no problems, I guess I'm just lucky........
