Thanks for the responses so far and it is about what I expected....Fun, fun! If I do any mods I just want to make sure that I don't say 'I wished I had'. I've had some serious powerplants in the past but the cars were constructed to handle it. My brother always buys the motors I've had in previous vehicles and I tend to build my next motor a little more potent than the one I sold him. However, the last motor I sold him was a 434 sbc that is 550hp and torque right up there with it! Sounds like fun and maybe a little much in the Cobra because if you can't hook up you're just burning tires. Keep the comments coming!

I have a Kraft built 427 FE (527 CI). Produces 687 ft lbs of torque and 699 HP, seems just about right.

Never off the line, but once I'm moving it cases quite a stir for the unspecting bullet bikes.

The motor in my SPF is a 434 ci Roush motor. dynoed at 561hp / 548tq. I changed the carb so I am probably making a little more hp than when it came from Roush, but it is about the same as the motor you are describing above. I love the motor in the SPF, but it is almost impossible to hook up. I am thinking of going to some drag radials on the rear for some more traction. Even though it is probably over kill for the street, I would not change anything. It is a great running motor, and has a much nastier cam than the 427R.

yeah, buy the drag radials. It's the best thing I ever did.

Yep, M/T 315s here.. you can't have too much traction. It also helps with that pesky 'Busa eggin' ya on at the stop light too..

btw... 469/480 rwhp/tq SAE corrected AIN'T ENOUGH

I think 889rwtq is just about enough, with 3.08 rear gears and drag radials it hooks well in 2nd gear and up. The turbo's boost comes on smooth and lets the cars weight transfer to plant the tires. I am using 5 speed TKO tranmission from MMR with Mcleod street twin clutch. I think that it is more important how your car is setup than how much power your car makes.

I think some key points and details are not mentioned or considered in this thread. Like the trans type and gear rations, header size, type of muffler, type of aircleaner, the rear end, eg. running a 3.x to a 4.y is a hugh difference. So it's not just engine dyno HP and torque, but the complete package needs to be part of your considertion.... e.g., trans, rear end, tires, CAM, what you want to do with the car, drive style, and actual HP/torque to the rear tires to the road. I just had my DART 351w block, 427ci dyno'd.... it was ~560 torque at 4400 RPM and 563 HP at 6500 RPM.... but that means little for now until you add all the moving parts and the air restrictions metioned above. I'll have a JAG IRS rear end with a 3.73 posi traction and a TKO600 with a .82 5th gear. Once I get the car complete, I'll have it dyno'd to see what's put on the road. Depends on your tires, but I think that if you can smoke the tires just off idle then you are probably close.
