1,600 miles in the first 6 weeks after I completed the build and got it titled.
Then, it went on the stands for this past winter. One of the best days of my life was when my 30 year old son came home, from out of state, for a wedding. He got to see the car completed for the first time. I gave him a short driving lesson and turned it over to him for the afternoon. He drove us around for over a hundred miles. Beautiful, warm, sunny day. The grins on his face were priceless to me! Best thing I ever did was insist that he learn to drive stick when he was 16. |
Been on the road one year, about 1300 miles on it.
Guess I need to drive it more this year! |
My car has 19,000 miles (21 years old) mine for the last 3 years and 2000 miles......some of you guys really get to drive a lot more than some of us !! Of course it snows for six months in Syracuse NY !

Hit the road in the spring of 1997, 29,000 miles. Lots of miles the first few years, I now average about 1,200 per year now. Of course, the weather only cooperates 5 months out of the year.

I've had the Classic Roadster since 2000 and have 22k miles on it.
My Kirkham which I got last June has been driven by me only 600 miles so far - I need to get to Texas more often - which will happen soon. |
My car was built in late 03 and it has 6500 miles on it.

This is year 11 on the road. By this Saturday she will have 66,666 mile on her. If I plan the route right it will be during the first pass of a local autocross. (My first in several years.) I got the car out for the season a few weeks ago. I had spent the winter driving a Honda Accord. 1/4 mile from my house I said to myself "My God this car is primitive!"
By the 1/2 mile mark I was grinning ear to ear and saying I LOVE THIS CAR. |
3 years, 6000 miles.

8 years and 50,000 miles. Just pulled the engine last weekend - broke a valve spring and broken bits locked the oil pump and snapped the shaft. Time for a "refresh" courtesy of some great friends :-)

Nine years and about 13,000 miles but probaly half of them are track miles. Here is the really sad part. Of those track miles I have melted down two engines the first was a 428 CJ (it had over 4000 race miles on it) and then the second was a 427 CO (15 mins-bad engine builder), two transmissions-the first was a used T-5 that I had behind my orig 302 engine and the last one happened at RNG last year at the drags where I twisted my output shaft on my Toploader into 3 pieces. But all in all I have loved my blue oval engines and transmissions.
