Did anyone actually suggest such a thing???  I think the only suggestion was that it looks like a DAX!!! 
On their website, Gullwing mention that, quote:" ...The rear axle is a combination of the well proven Cobra axle, which we integrate since a long time in our special Cobra, which we have built in more than 200 units..."
But there is no other information on their site (or the `net that I have found yet) about their special Cobra, which, allowing for translation, of which there could be over 200.
It would be very interesting to know whether there is simply a 'licensed manufacture' type of agreement wheereby the Gullwing 'Cobra' is now badged as an 'AC GT' or 'GTS', or has this company tooled up to AC`s spec, in which case things like the external boot (sorry...trunk) hinges wouldn`t be there if history is anything to go by.
Certainly Dave Brookes, a specialist(Dax & occasional Kirkham) Replica builder can identify parts of his own design in the hardtop renderings, but as he has not sold any to 'third parties', could this explain why no hardtop is on display in Monaco?
