That is expensive but I know a bugatti sold for $15 million a few years ago and the original Rolly Royce silver gohst is valued at approximately $50 million.

Good point Jay. I wonder what "yard stick" they are using to come to this conclusion (worlds most expensive)? Most expensive sold at auction perhaps?

It says, expected to sell for 10 Million to 15 Million and set an american record and potentilly a world record when it goes to the auction block.
As far as the "Rolly Royce silver gohst is valued at approximately $50 million." There's a difference between somethings value and setting a record in selling a car. Now if the RR had sold for $50 million, that would certainly be a record.
My guess- $17 million

I had heard rumor of some Shiek in Saudi having a Rolls built with a 24K gold body for some ungodly amount of money...

Agreed, but 50 million is what it is insured for, it is in the Rolls Royce museum so I doubt it will ever be sold.

Welcome John. It's an honor to see you here! I am upgrading my Dish Network to HD just so I can see this car go across the block. I wish I could be there to see it in person.

AX201 is owned by Bentley Motors, Ltd. and NOT Rolls-Royce. It was part of the Bentley
assets that Volkswagen acquired when Vickers PLC sold the company. The rights to the Rolls-Royce name were not included and that was sold the BMW. But Volkswagen via Bentley acquired AX201, rights to the radiator shell design and rights to the Charles Sykes
"Spirit of Ectasy" mascot. BMW and VW worked out a deal to allow BMW to acquire rights
to the radiator shell and mascot.
If a Bugatti Type 41 ever comes to market, it could easily top $20 million as could an
Auto-Union D type if one of those ever comes up for sale.

Today is the day.
The Mecum people were kind enough to fly Arch out to Indianapolis and cover the expenses.
He will proudly represent the Simonson clan about the days gone by on CSX2601.

The REALLY big buck ($10 million and up) cars in Europe usually don't sell at an auction, but are private sales for the most part, so often one doesn't know what they sold for unless you are lucky enough to be the buyer or the seller.

Maybe it's just me, but some of these posts seem to be getting more than a bit insulting to the owner of 2601 on this and other threads here on Club Cobra. Hopefully he has thicker skin than me and mine is pretty thick.

What? I can hear you over your exhausts at 1/4 throttle.
Don't forget to close your passenger door.
By the way, Alex, did you ever get your man card back?

It has been reported that the National Automobile Museum(part of Harrahs old collection) in Reno was offered $50 million for the 1908 Thomas Flyer that won the "Around the World" race that year.
