I drove off with it from LSC on April 12,2002.

I was so excited I was almost a hazard on the highways.

These photos were taken are I stopped after my first 60 miles that day. Just had to give a few rides to show it off.

Must have been like the grin I had when my ex-wife left. Happiest day of my life.

I got to drive one in 1973. Barely had my license. I was a carpenter back then, and my boss gave me the shot. That's all it took....
Been an FE guy ever since, and had many very fast Fords. Medium Risers, Tunnel Ports, Cammers etc. But my dream was always to get a Cobra. Married 25 years now and my wife has had to listen to me talk about it the whole time. When I finally figured out how to get it, she supported it all the way. When it came home, she actually cried. Yes, I have a good woman. Now, let's all pray that the kids get scholarships!

Smile lets see

JB do you want to build one or buy a Cobra?

Small block or big block?
carb or fuel injections?
webbers?
Black, Red, Blue, White, Silver, other color?
with stripe or with out stripe?
one roll bar or two roll bars?
four speed or 5 speed or auto?
nine inch, 8.8 or IRS rear end?
FIA or 427 SC body?
race or street?

What other questions can we ask JB to help make up his mind?

fast, faster or fastest?

Smile The American Hot Rod - Cobra

I started in 2000 on my built, got it titled in 2002. I make major changes every winter. Two paint jobs, three trannies, two sets of rims, three sets of tires, three pairs of heads, three cams, two intakes, 2 throttle bodies, 4 mass air meters, coated my pipe three times, interior carpet twice, 3 fans, changed the rear suspension 2 or 3 times, reworked the front control arms 3 times, 3 sets of shocks etc.

Always changing something. Better and or faster

My opinion of what I wanted in a Cobra has changed a lot. I'm happy with a fast fuel injected small block that gets 21 mpg but I could be happy with a 600 hp big block that gets 12-14 mpg. I have two buddies with 600 hp Cobras that I get to drive. Love that power.

It would have been cheaper to buy a motor from Keith Craft.
When I started I thought a 350 hp small block would be enough. Now I want a 450 hp small block.
I guess a 351 W 408 stroker with 525 Hp is perfect for a Cobra. Oh, I get to drive one of those also. Good friends!

I like the idea of a hot rod. When I rode Harley's they were chopped. Lean and fast. I guess I like my toy car the same way.
And to me a Cobra is a hot rod, English body with a American V-8. Shelby's people had to change a lot of things to make the Cobra a winner. It's the American Way

Dwight

The day I picked mine up, I had to drive it 150 miles through Friday afternoon rush hour traffic in LA. The alignment was way off and it rained the last 30 miles home.

My wife called me on the cell phone during the drive, as she was following me home. and all I could say was "It's raining, I'm stuck in stop and go traffic, I can barely keep this thing between the lines and I'M DRIVING A F--KING COBRA!"

Haven't stopped grinning (or spending money on it) yet!

Couped - there are better lift kits available than that one.
Ohh and your caster on those teeny tiny front wheels is a little off

I remember it well. My first drive was with the top on, ambient was 38 degrees, the trip took 13 hours with only fuel stops, motor died below 1100 rpm with a million rollback stops on twisty mountains roads and I arrived at the farm in pitch black conditions. The only mistake I made was putting the top on.
