I didn't know Jack Kennedy, but Rick Kopec is "no Jack Kennedy." |
Rod
Neither me or Rick are in the Kennedy club as with the others. I just wanted to list a few names people would recognize who had faults. It was just to make a point because I knew no one knew Nicky Commorada, John Scarangello and Pete Bonafide who I grew up with that were less than perfect and unless you grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn
|
Steve...I wuv you buddy, so I'm not even perfect. :p
This just seems so damn appropriate. "Steve Sunshine" played by JohnnyMac. Producer/Photograper/"Jim" from Taxi: Computerworks. Audience: Me and Cheerleader while in New York. HD version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUmnybNMVOo |
Jammy
That's the funniest thing I have ever seen. I miss my JonnyMac.
Hey Mr. attorney, Can I sue him for something? Can Obama? |
I thought the funniest thing was Malone and me sitting naked in your old CSX 4027...but I guess time marches on. ;)

"They weren’t left over or held over because they had been specifically ordered so they could be used for the beginning of 1966 production" - Rick Kopek
I guess he would be happier if they were called "special order" 1966 Gt-350's... The only thing I would like to call one of them is "mine", but that probably isn't going to happen :( - Dan |
Jamo: Well, I have the same read as you vis a vis Kopec and SAAC. If we are correct he needs to read the SAAC Registry as to the SAAC's official position on the contiuation series and as posted on their own Website. There seems to be a disconnect between Kopec and the registry then.
As to mental masterbation....There are those that do and there are those that lie about it. LOL. Thanks for the kind words though right after the knuckle sandwich. I'll take what I can get around here. : ) Ron: Apparently you need to bone up on what SAAC's official position on the Continuation series is. But wait, aren't you like involved with SAAC and a concours judge???.. I guess even SAAC officials don't even go by what their Registry says then. Boy, this is confusing. LOL. Well..its only another 10 years before the next Registry hits and SAAC can correct themselves. LOL As to the rest here on CC. You say "replica" I say "REAL". Unfortuately for you guys I'm right....again. LOL Alls I knows is my car for REAL says (use texan accent here) "Shelby" on it and thats all I's cares about. You all takes care. |

Kirkhams are listed in the registry for the same reason the 4000 series Cobras are listed, but who REALLY cares. I don't.

Rodknock: The Registry specifically says why they listed Kirkhams. Its not the same reason as that they list the Continuation Series. Not even close.
But then again....what I take away from this thread is that what they say in print isn't necessarily what they really mean I guess..%/ Anyway...don't really care. I bought mine because I wanted a Shelby. Thats what I got. I'm happy. :D |
Evan, this has been discussed many times before but some time back, I think in 2008, Rick Kopec was quoted on the SAAC Forum stating that the registry expanded their database beyond the originals because ten or twenty years into the future these "similar" cars could very easily be renumbered as an original or owner unknown Cobra. SAAC put the 4000 series Cobras, and later, the Kirkhams in a separate section of the registry to keep them separate and distinct from the originals. Per Mr. Kopec that was their primary goal in including them in the registry, rather than ignoring them.
So, as always, I disagree with you and, as always, I got caught up in your nonsense. I bought mine because I wanted an original and real Kirkham and that's what I got. I'm happy too. |
By the way, further quoting Rick Kopec (from the current thread on the SAAC Forum):
"As for having words I wrote 25 years ago thrown back in my face, I would only say that I know more today than I did back then, and so does everyone else. Once you write something, time does not stand still. If you study a subject long enough and talk to enough people and read enough that others have written, chances are you will gain a better perspective. Should you be straight jacketed by something you wrote before spending the time and effort to acquire this additional knowledge? Or, having written it, do you cease searching for additional facts?" Parsing words, maybe his perspective will change for the "better." |
Not this topic again............ Real, Original, Replica, Kit Car....................
Boooring..................................:p Just go drive your real, er, I mean original, uh, I mean replica (or is it kit car)! |

More wasted bandwidth and disk storage. :p  I am amazed that someone hasn't lit the fuse to blow this thread up yet. Normally, this is "train wreck" territory. |

I'd rather be discussing the the difference between the various rear ends offered by the big three (i.e., sure grip, posi and t-Lok). It appears that when people misuse the terms and/or interchange them, that really upsets Mr. Kopec. **) |
Rodknock: Sorry, you can't blame this nonsense/thread on me. Not this time. :p
SAAC clearly has officially in writting accepted the Continuation 4000 series as a genuine/real Cobra. Thats good enough for me. I don't count some "dicta" in verbal form from Kopec as changing anything. What counts is their official position. We could go on for years here about this subject. There are those that will never accept the facts and limit their acceptance to originals as the only REAL Cobras. Thats fine. I understand their postion and also agree that in the "pecking order of things" they are at the top of the food chain (for now anyway...who knows what the future holds). Problem is they refuse to acknowledge the logic and rationale of the current circumstances and twist the facts to suit their position. As Kopec said time does not stand still and things change. There are new genuine Cobras in existence and have been for 10+ years now. They are also very limited in number. Anyway, I love Kirkhams. I have one, well sort of. :D Takes care. :) |
