You know what though? After reading that other guy's stuff, I've come to appreciate Evan.

Yes...he's an asshole, but by gawd...he's our asshole. Rock on Evan! :p

Rodknock: Fact:Continuation Series are from SAI. Fact: They are the only "Cobras" that can be legally be referred as "Cobras" and legally carry the "Cobra and Shelby" logos. Fact: They are real Shelbys. Fact: legally they are therefore real Cobras/Shelby Cobras. Fact: The world's most renowed organization expert authority has accepted them as such.

Seems good enough for me.

But if you and other non Shelby owners want to keep referring to them as "replicas" for your own reasons you are obviously free to do so. I think you look a little silly for doing so but feel free...:p

Xl8or: Yeah, I think I did once...can't remember the subject...oh, yeah thats right it was the thread on taking a poll on the ZR1 or the FGT which many took an interest in and reponded to but of course some here jumped eventually jumped on and accused me of being an a$$hole when it was just a carry over from a smilar subject on another thread and I thought it was a subject that would be of interest and fun.

Jamo: Thanks for the back handed support Dude. Rock on!:D

RodKnock 07-16-2009 10:05 AM

Evan, you're going to lose you title as spelling bee champ. It's "renowned."

Ron (Computerworks) said a few pages back that a a CSX is a replica made by Shelby. Jump on him, not me. I'm innocent. :)

I was thinking the same thing xlr8or was thinking, but now I remember the thread about the Ford GT.

What'saCobra? 07-16-2009 10:11 AM

Opinions might vary as various oxens are algored.

Does SAAC consider the very few early 90's AC continuation cars (fabricated by AC Cars Limited, a UK company), numbered in the CSX 30XX series at the factory, as Cobras? As real Cobras? as genuine Cobras? As real SC's?

Certainly NOT Shelby Cobras, that's for sure. But, then again, that's not everything, is it?

Jes 'asking.

Shelby and Superformance reached an agreement at some point with Shelby granting some sort of license to Superformance. I thought Superformance was allowed to use the name Cobra, but not Shelby Cobra.

xlr8or 07-16-2009 10:36 AM

Glad to see you expand your participation here Evan. You should try it more often.

Jamo that was funny stuff. ;)

REAL 1 07-16-2009 11:20 AM

Hmmm. I seem to remember that back in the 60's Cobras on this side of the pond were referred to as Shelby Cobras also. Shelby quickly ditched any reference to AC.

Just sayin.

razerwire 07-16-2009 11:46 AM

Price used would seem to place the cars in pecking order 1. cobras from the 1960s 2 .alum shelbys new series 3. kirkham 4 . glass shelbys new series 5. superformance and era tied 6 .depends on the build. With that said it would seem that the public sees new series shelbys as real. Kirkham quality not in question. Newer AC cars all over the board?

Post said used price, went to cobra country for info, check it out. Superformance listed for 45 to 55 k, ERA from 39 to 53 k. See ERA #716-#2031-#203. Point is public view of newer shelby cobras confirmed as real cobras by how much they sell for.

An inherently flawed sampling. The truth is "the public" can't tell the difference between a Kirkham and a Factory Five.;)

Give me 12 people off the street and I'll convince them a FFR is better than a CSX. "Just look at that flimsy aluminum, nothing more than melted Coke cans, here watch me put a dent in it with one rap of my knuckles... while over here we have quality-built fiberglass -- yessirreee, it doesn't get any better than this.... just like Corvettes."

EDIT -- And I'll throw in a box of Sham-Wows to seal the deal....

REAL 1 07-16-2009 01:28 PM

Patrickt: Wow. You almost had me convinced with that sales pitch right up to the point you got to "Corvette".

No sale.

;)

That's why I added the edit with the Sham-Wows.:p No one can resist that.

Dan Stryffeler 07-16-2009 01:31 PM

I don't think the sales pitch would get very far beyond putting a dent in someones car :)

It was going to be Evan's......

I'm usually not a violent guy. But that would have me hurting someone. That would have me at a "10" you don't want to see me at a "10".

Well if I was Dudley Moore, I'd much rather see Bo Derek jogging down the beach in a bikini than Evan... ;)
