V8 Super Cars Bathurst
Yesterday I caught the last hour of the 1000 KM V8 Super car race from Bathurst that was on Speed TV. These guys have a series that is absolutely the best to watch. Almost like the Trans Am series from the 60's & 70's. I've seen it before but was really disapointed to find Darrel Waltrip doing the commentating. Trying to put a NASCAR spin on a great Austrailian/New Zealand series.... yuk.

Great race, I watched about half of it. Switching channels from other things.
Didn't they say something about the V8 super cars coming to Texas in 2013? Maybe that is why they were there, to promote that for Speed Channel.
I remember something about building a new track in Texas but I thought that was for the Grand Prix cars.
I think they are going to be back there next month again. Something about the V8 super cars on the gold coast, or something like that.

Is it 2013, yet? I can't wait for them to get here.

Agreed.
I LOVE that track and them boys flat out are kick-arse drivers. A series like that billed as "Trans-Am" with Mustangs and Camaros would draw some interest.

LOL! Being a good driver does not mean being a good passenger. Especially driving at high speed and not knowing what's around the corner.

You guys should check some of the older footage, when there was not too many barriers around teh track to stop you flying off the mountain.
And back when there was no "chase" down Conrod straight.

The irony is the king of Bathurst - Aussie Peter Brock was killed driving a car made famous by US Peter Brock. A Daytona coupe.
I've always found that very freaky...

That has got to be the longest downhill run on any track.

Bathurst FoSC 2010 hot laps in an ac cobra - YouTube
Some footage I took last year at Easter at the track. We were there for a sportscar weekend, awesome track to drive! It is a public road for most of the year, they close it for a very few events every year. Vodafone took Jensen Buttons F1 car there earlier this year and despite 300kph gearing managed to do a 1:38 or something.... crazy stuff!
I go to the mountain every year and camp at the top and sit there drink beer and watch the race. Great way to unwind after a hectic Cobra Nationals week the week before.
