Mark, you need to plan on coming down to kick Dean's arse. Besides if my JBL isn't ready, I can at least get a ride in yours

 Mark,
It's an SL-C made by Race Car Replicas in Detroit. I had their GT40 before the Hurricane Cobra. It is the basic kit with race graphics. It has an LS376 crate engine and a 2011 Porsche 997tt 6 speed transaxle. It is about 480hp according to the spec sheet. Nothing to special.

 That's not a Cobra Dean!
It is a nice ride (not crazy about the drive train) but all things considered it is probably time we see your butt in the air while you are fiddling with something other than a Cobra or GT 40.

The competition in the Pro Kit Car Class is getting much better with the addition of the Mongoose guys. Wouldnt' it be nice if one of the Factory Five GTM's would show up? As you said that would be a great picture: RCR's SLC; Mongooses' GTP; FFR's GTM: and Maybe the Spice Car. All we are missing is someone with a FFR GTM and a set of stones!

The new axles are in the mail! I'll try to get them in this weekend and through the old ones in the trailer as a spare. The new ones are much stronger. I think they will hold up alright.
Are you getting excited to make the trip again?

 Dallas,

Any chance of bringing some of the Texas contigent with you? And I'm sure you'll do very well against other cars in your class!

Wonder how much faster that SLC would be with a Blue Oval Motor to match the color of the car

I just can't wait to see what box of parts he shows up with to make the motor faster after someone whips him. I can see him replacing fuel injectors, MAF, intake (or drill holes/jets in old one for more air), coils, etc. Then reprogramming on the laptop, that shouln't take more than half a day.

 Humm,
I don't think he tinkers with his cars because they are broke but because he doesn't want to put them on the track. Of course there was that one issue with the broken axel, and then the time when the back part of his GT 40 came off because he forgot to latch it down, and of course there was the time when he was chauffering a young fan around and found his way on top of some tires waiving at the rest of us as we went around the track. Oh and did I forget to mention the time he was at Road America and didn't quite get his knock off wheels completely seated on the hubs. We were going a thousand miles an hour when he came in and mentioned he felt a slight vibration! Just in the nick of time...so to speak!
Guys dont' worry about bringing a knife to a gun fight...he usually forgets his bullets too and did you notice he is running some old Chevy engine LS7 or LS9?

All kidding aside, Dean is a great driver and always has a very beautiful and capable car. We will put him in the class with all the hot shots with Supercars and big ego's. The rest of us will be in our ole Cobra's having much more fun for a lot less money.

Well, all of that is true .

In most cases I have my tools spread all over the paddock shortly after the green flag waves. I have taken my cars to some of the nicest tracks in the Midwest just to work on them in the parking lots! But it is worth noting that I would rather drag my trailer, getting 6 mpg, 8 hours one way to have that chance to race even one lap with/against my friends than to wax my paint and armorall my tires, drive down to the shopping mall and win first place in the "other" class while fielding the same question hundreds of times, "Is it real?". Then pack up my chair and my $9 plaque and drive back to my garage and park a faithful reproduction of the greatest sports car in history with 600 hp, side pipes, wide tires and racing stripes next to my wifes minivan until the next "Show and Shine".

( I just spilled my coffee all down the front of my white shirt!)

Anyway, if that is your car, it's shedding a tear under your $300 car cover.

Let him out from under there and let the horses run!

See you at Run n Gun, running or not, still having fun.

I am glad you took my comment the way I intended (tongue and cheek). I too have gone to tracks and spent one whole day working on something and having a half dozen or so guys right beside asking what do you need or what can I do. Most of the time I didn't know especially that time at Omaha where my battery post broke. Glad it was there rather than running down I 44 in 5:00 traffic. I did run out of gas on I44 at 5:00 once...that's another story. In 14 years of Cobra ownership....you name it and it has probably happened to me. Caught in rain, flashed multiple times (once with wife sitting next to me), ground wire came of MSD in front of Alzheimers Center (never forget that), forgot to tighten radiator hose and it blew off at Sonic, someone threw chewing tobacco at me at a hiway construction site while I was heading to my first car show (not cool).
The point is these cars are an experience and the more experiences you get the better stories you can tell.

My original goal was to have paint on mine by RNG. Now I'm hoping to have an engine in it again by RNG, painted or not.
Stanley M is machining my block now, he will be building me a 462 FE, and it will have 48 IDA's on it. I'm still gathering up parts to deliver to him. Maybe I'll have it running and there; we'll see.

I'm sure it will be fun!

 Joe

				 Great driver and smooth??
Clois Harlan Mr. Harlan I believe that Mr. Lampe set the record at Gateway a couple of years back in his class. Road course was in the very low 1 minute range?? The funny thing was I have been to alot of tracks and never seen grass in the front of a spoiler and mud on the tires. Something about the cleaning crew was on strike. I am still pulling the grass out on my front end from 2 years ago at MPH in Neb. That was some tall grass and thick too. Rick L. |

I wish that I could make it to Run and Gun this year. If i did I would be bringing my street Cobra. Maybe next year this project will be done. C5 Corvette suspension, space frame, 6 speed, LS engine with some upgrades. Pictures shows the body at ride height.
Have fun everyone. John
