Al,

Will be pulling into town late Friday afternoon (5 ish?) and going right to the track to setup Club Cranky.

From there, we're going to the "Meet and Greet" at the host hotel, I think its the Holiday Inn.

We'll be at the track early Sat for tech inspection, after racing its back to Casa Cranky for a "North meets South" hoe down...BBQ, drinking and lots of stories. Rumour has it that Carroll hisself may show up!

Sunday, we race all day and may have to miss the last session since we are towing up to Summit Point for two MORE days of racing.

Roger knows the address of the house we rented. I don't have directions, but its like a half mile from the track.

Unhappy Bad news....for me, anyway...

Guys...VIR is looking like it won't be happenin' for me. My Dad had to go to the ER last Tuesday afternoon. He was loosing a lot of blood from his rectum...he's on blood thinners, so this wasn't entirely unexpected. Still, this was totally out of the blue so to speak.

I got a call Wednesday AM around 0215, and they said they had give him 12 units of whole blood, about 8 plasmas, and some platlettes, and they were no longer able to keep up with the flow. They wanted permission to operate. I gave the OK - what was my choice?

Anyway, he came through the surgery okay, but he lost about 2-3 feet of his bowel in the process. He's still in Critical Care, and it's pretty much touch and go just now. He's doing better, but he's so wacked out on demerol and adavan that he barely knows I'm there.

When he comes out of ICU, he's probably looking at a 3-4 week hospital stay, and after that we don't know what might happen. So, it looks like I won't be at VIR when Club Cranky fires it up this month. I plan on sending Mike Stenhouse a note this evening and bringing him up-to-date. I had to cancel last May's event as well, as my Mom had just been diagnosed with lung cancer. We lost her in July, so I've been trying to look out for my Dad since then. We moved him to a retirement home in January of this year, and he had been doing alright - weellll, OK, anyway - since then. He was diagnosed with bone cancer (Multiple Myeloma) in August of 2000. We still haven't heard from the pathologist on the section of bowel that was removed.

Anyway, long story short, anyone need a VIR slot...? Looks like I'm going to be racing to the hospital....

At least I hope that's the only place I need to be racing to this month.

Getting old sucks...! If you're a smoker...please, quit now! I've seen first hand what it does to a body and it ain't pretty.

Freddie,

Taking care of those you love is always number 1 with me.

I know what you're going through, I lost my Dad to Lung Cancer about 20 years ago.

So, we can always see you another time, we'll raise a glass in honor of you and your dad at Casa Cranky.

You and your dad are in my prayers.

JM

To CC, sounds like you boys will eat pertneer anything so it shouldn't be hard to keep yall happy. Also sounds like yall can 't tell the difrence between livestock and fine poontang and at least one of yall can't tell the difrence between a snake and a mustang.

I am truely looking forward to meeting all of you too, this should be a great event. I do think, however I will leave my daughters AND the animals home where they will be safe.
Chas
