Superformance Front Brake Ducting / Cooling
The front inlets on a Superformance carry fresh air to the passanger footwells, however the ducting travels right next to the front brakes. Has anyone ever re-worked these to blow fresh air directly on the front brakes ?? If so, can you tell me how it is done and if it actually does improve brake cooling and reduce fade under hard consistent braking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an Excalibur and plan to use the foot box vents for brake cooling. I do road racing and speeds in excess of a 100mph with severe breaking at the end of the straight. Other racers have stated flat out you HAVE to have duct cooling IF you raod race! 6 or 7 laps, and my Wilwood racing breaks are GONE! I have no problem with breaks at all during Auto Cross or SCCA Solo events.

Actually the original intent of the intakes were for brakes.
Excaliber: Try the Porterfield R4-S pads. Carbon Kevlar and very grabby both on the track and the street.

I have installed the duct vents but now have to run the hose. Does anyone have advice or a pic on how to run the hose? It appears that 3" is a bit too wide and may interfere with steering.
Any help appreciated,
Roscoe

Early SPF cars had the openings in the body for ducts, but nothing connected. The "build kit" came with 2 fiberglass funnels you could glue into place and run a hose off them for the brakes. Later on, they began adding the funnels and tubing at the factory and had them plumbed to the footboxes for foot cooling. I have seen people run the hose to their brakes for cooling. They usually just use nylon tie-wraps to hold the hose to the lower control arm. The tires do rub the hose a little bit, so after a while, you cut the hose a few inches shorter and re tie it to the control arm. Very crude but somewhat effective.

glassnake,
Here are pics of my inner fender
I think the 3" tubing is just too wide and will interfere with the tires.
