Cranky's pictures from Pocono
Sat. July 20 Pocono PA,
JM and I go to Pocono to watch some old friends and to see some new Club Cranky wannabe racers popping their cherries on the road course at Pocono.
Thanks to Steve Klay (Klayfish) for lending me his camera and supplying the discs.
Sorry no pictures of burnouts and you will notice spectators are well back from track. (safety first)
Enjoy Cranky

Holy crap,
I forgot about McFez, have to revise my discription of Joe's car.
Joe's Cobra and McFez BB Cobra are both the fastest Cobras in the Northeast.,Dead heat, Draw, whatever you want to call it . Equal opportunity ass kickers.

Good Pics Cranky!
Finally, you shot some steady, in focus pics!
I even like the devil horns Tim Lewis is giving me.
I need to clarify one thing...in the mirror pic, I am impersonating a monkey from Planet of the Apes, not Mickey Rooney in the movie "Bill".
I think we can have a duel at the Glen with McFez and McFIA.
Two eqaully prepared ERAs, track only cars, with 2 extremely talented drivers.
This could be the ultimate BB/SB showdown.
...place yer bets!!!!!

Yours in Fords,

Thanks for the shots, Roger. The one with me in front of the Viper is now the background for my computer at work.
I've watched my in-car camera views twice already. It came out really well. Saw things I didn't realize when I was in the car.
Bill,
Joe from PDA was trying to convince me to come on Sunday, saying there weren't many cars. I thought about it, but wanted to run with you guys. Brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it? Maybe down the road, I'll try a Sunday event.
Hope some of you can make it to Pocono in August. Weather permitting, I'll be there.

Pocono PICS
Roger,
Thanks for coming to the track on Saturday to help out. The shots were great. Isn't it painful to go to the track and not race! It was great to see all the guys from the VIR trip, truly a supportive group.
I had a great time and was thoroughly exhausted after the day was out, but it was a good exhaustion, and the dinner afterwards was just what we all needed to unwind. I did, however, miss my BB nemesis, Don.
Don, I will definitely be at the Glen in October, maybe you can make PDA's Sept. 7th event at LRP for testing before the Glen. If anyone else is interested in that date, it fills up quickly, and remember it is a low db track.

i cant believe it. the one time i make it to a PDA event to meet the Cranky Crew you guys dont show up! well, you missed an excellent day. Tim showed up in his ERA GT40 and Norm kept the cobra at home and brought out his 924. We literally had the track to ourselves. Especially at the end of the day. Tim even showboated a little bit with a 270 coming back onto the super speedway section out of the last turn. i'd bet my arm the skidmarks are still there.
-dan
PDA was an excellent group. i highly recommend them.

Fun day at Pocono
Jamo,
There are about four or five different configurations for road courses at Pocono, this one is the 11/2 mile North course. Most guys like this short course. They run a 31/2 mile course in August for the real high speed wackos. Tried it in the rain last year, ran three laps and went home. Slicks don't like the rain.

Dan,
I heard Sunday was great. Norm Good called me on this way home from Pocono and told me all about it!
It was a wee bit difficult though going and not actually driving.
So Dan...are we going to see you at Watkins Glen??? It looks like we'll have a full Club Cranky contingent with a number of new members coming up for the first time.

Cranky,
Thanks for coming and being our recorder of history. Too bad you didn't get a shot of that repaired mirror with 2 lbs of duct tape on it.

The photos taken by PDA are now on their website. Pretty cool shots. But I don't know if I'll pay the kind of $$$ their asking for the pics. Roger get some excellent shots. The pics are on www.gallery.imp-auto.com

I know the feeling....
My car is complete, yet work has made it almost impossible to organize a plan of attack for me to get some training and track time. Every time a plan something, work kills it, or a birthday, or a family event, or a holiday, or I have to look for a house, etc, etc.....
What ever happened to being bored?
I always said never let life get in the way of your recreation.
I guess I was all talk and no go.
Pictures/posts like the ones above are why I built my car.
How the he$$ am I going to get out there?

Cranky,
I think you have water (or is that tonic?) on the brain.
The first picture's caption says...Crankoids at the Glen
Were we at the same event? Cuz I was at POCONO.
Todd,
Just get out and do it. We have 2 events at Watkins Glen in August and October. That's more than enough time to get ready. I believe Joe Rodimista is also doing an event at Lime Rock as well. Check out the details on other threads on the Racing forum. We can always find a way to squeeze someone into a room or the event.
Just do it. Thats what Klayfish did and he had a blast!

John,
Remember, Cranky was out in that sun all day taking photos. It can do funny things to you after a while. I wish I could go to the Glen. Hopefully next year.
Todd,
John is right. Just make the time. My weekends are generally quite busy, and there are lots of things I could be doing. But I had to prioritize, and some things just had to wait. I wanted to race. If I had house projects to do, or something like that, then it would just have to wait another week. Family comes first, but even they would probably understand if you missed a small gathering (I don't mean miss the wife's b-day ). You'll be glad you found a way to make the time.

Get this.....every year, the first driving event of the Club Cranky season is at Watkins Glen and on MOTHER'S DAY.
All of us have missed Mother's Day for the last 3 or 4 years, with the exception of this year because we had went to VIR instead.
Yup, try not to miss family stuff, but projects? It took me 4 years to paint my house.
