Default 2004 Track Dates

Anyone that knows the hard dates for some of the tracks in Middle America (between the Rockies and Nashville) I would appreciate them posting the event and dates so I can schedule as many events as I can this spring and summer. I will post the ones I know at this time later this week. Rumor has it that Keith Williams is renting No Problem Raceway again this March?

Clois;

Keith and his gang are supposed to get NPR again and hopefully I'll be there,went to the first one but missed the secound.....

Open track at Nashville in April for the 40th Mustang shindig,three days of track time there,already booked two days... Great track and super great accomodations if you have a garage stall and still good if you don't.....Nashville is a relatively new track,so everything is very modern and up to date as well as being "new and fresh"....The safety teams they had there were secound to none and it was nice to see the many fire and resue guys as well as tow trucks just waiting in case of an emergency,luckly they only had to tow a couple of cars off that blew engines and thankfully mine was NOT one of them....

They also have CVAR racing at Texas Motor Speedway which I think is not too far from you.....

Clois;

Nashville is April 15 thru the 17th for the Mustang shindig.....

NPR in March would be great for me as I will need some testing time for my new tires and set-up on my car before the Nashville dates.....

David,

I have heard conflicting stories about the Nashville track and the time they allowed the Cobras on the track. What was your take on things? Did they put the Cobras in with other Mustangs or did they have their own class? Did you get enough track time?

Clois;

I'll try and send you the site to go to for the info and registration,but here is how they did it last time and it is supposed to be the same this time......

Five 15 minute sessions a day,two in the morning and three in the afternoon.....

Four classes of cars;
1-Novice----NO passing allowed at all---follow the leader only,mainly for beginners,mostly street legal,street cars,but anything is allowed car wise....
2-Intermediate----Passing allowed only on the front straight-a-way,expirience needed for this class.....
3 & 4---Competition classes---full competition cars---roll bars-fire suppresant systems,competition licemse required such as CVAR or SCCA.....

There is a posted speed limit in all classes,but it is very "loosely" enforced,they tell you that at the drivers meetings,they let you run all out as long as you at least act like you know what you are doing,if you drive erractic or do not let faster cars pass or try to block,then they will black flag you and bring you in for a little "talk",secound black flag and you are finished for the weekend,as they said,"now you get to go home early".... Have not seen anyone black flagged except for mechanical problems (car smoking badly or something hanging or dragging on a car)....

First time out I had to run Novice which was good for me cause it was my first time ever on a road course,luckily for me,I was also the fastest car in Novice class.....

Secound day I asked to move up to Intermediate and the track personal agreed that they thought I did well enough and they let me move up,humbling expirience for me,but a good one....

Now that I have some expirience I will run Intermidiate as my car will not qualify for Competition classes....

If you have any track expirience you can run Intermidiate and it is a FAST class,Cobra's,supercharged Mustang Cobras,Mustang GT's and the like....

15 minute session equals about ten to twelve laps on the course....Use all the NASCAR front straight-a-way,so can get up some pretty good speeds,some cars were hitting around 130 or more,back straight is a lot shorter....about 10 turns total....

I hit 120 on the front and around 100 on the back....Plenty fast enough for me......

I like the track as well as the facilitys,all first class,One suggestion,if you go get a garage stall,parking lot gets pretty hot in the sun all day,I will NOT go without a garage stall and have already booked mine...

People are real nice and if you ask ahead and give them the names they will put you and your buddies stalls adjoining,big help sharing tools and space....

They do not brake up cars in classes by car type,whatever class your sign up for and your car qualifies for is what you run in regardless of car type,they will have the exibition race for Cobras and Vintage Mustangs saturday around noon,but that is invitation only.....

This event is also restricted to Mustangs,Cobras (real or replica),any Ford,and Ford powered cars only (Sunbeam Tigers,Panteras,etc,etc)....

Got all the track time I wanted,in fact both days I did not run the last afternoon session,too tired,you have about an hour between sessions,time to work on your car and let it cool down....

Security is excellent.....

Clois;

I think the bad things you heard about Nashville were at the SAAc convention.... Too many classes of cars along with some "celebrities" that wanted track time as well as giving demo rides in a few 4000 series cars as well as the Series 1 cars as well as an Elanor car as well as the Vintage Race guys,just not enough time for everyone and at times very poorly organized....

The people running this show are the Nashville Mustang Club people who had put on a number of "open track" events are pretty good at it and have a good system worked out.... I don't think you'll be disappointed....

Go to this site for all the info,,,,,,,http://www.mustang.org/specialevents/MCA.cfm?home

PS; I just checked the site myself and they have made some rule changes,but not many.... Friday is sold out for the open track,but slots are left for thursday and saturday....

Thanks David for the info. There are always more than one side to any situation. I will try and work it in if I can. Wife might like going to Nashville, although there is no beach or ocean.

Cranky;

From my driveway to the track in Nashville takes me 10 hours,that includes stops for fuel,food and bathroom....

Way more than I like to drive,but have met some great people there and have had a great time.... Most are just like myself,just want to have a hassle free good time and get some seat time in our cars and that's exactly what has happened so for....

Normally I do not travel more than 3 to 5 hours,but Nashville is the exception.....

Just heard this week that an avid race fan bought a local dirt track here for a little over half a million,his two sons are big into road racing although just started recently and now he is looking into building a road race track adjoining the dirt oval.... Hope it goes thru,it is only 45 minutes from my house.......

Subj: New Medical Treatment for HRFS

Heavy Right Foot Syndrome (HRFS) is not gender specific! Both men and women are equally affected by these symptoms:

1. Compulsive reading of the fine print in Radar Detector Ads to make sure they will catch all forms of police radar.
2. An involuntary smiling reaction when the smell of race fuel, hot brakes or tire smoke passes through the nasal passages.
3. Unexplained willingness to wake up at 5:30am on Sundays to watch the Formula One races on ESPN when you wouldn't otherwise wake up that early for ANYTHING or ANYONE!
4. Noticeable and permanent finger prints on the covers of racing and performance parts magazines due to the release of perspiration while looking at these publications.

For women, the symptoms can also include recurring fantasies that they will meet a Steve McQueen / Clint Eastwood looking male driving instructor who will propel them to racing stardom!

"There is only one medication effective for the treatment of HRFS," according to Nurse Leslie who is specially trained in the treatment of this affliction. "Adrenaline is a natural form of medication that is produced by your own body when you drive at speed. The more adrenaline produced, the greater the relief of the HRFS symptoms!"

Come join us at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado Springs, CO May 8-9, 2004 and September 18-19, 2004! Alot of fun and alot of track time! 7 rotations at 20 minutes long, sometimes at the end of the day when most drivers are done fro the day, you might even get 30 minutes. If you would like a registration form from Nurse Leslie please email me at leslie@quickchickracing.com

Happy Driving!

Hello Leslie,

Good to see you posting here again. I was wondering if the track at Colorado Springs is the track that Nascar uses converted to a road course? Also, how is Charles' new build coming?

hi Clois-

Yes NASCAR uses this track, but they use the oval, I have not seen them on the roadcourse.

Charles has been working on his new ride when time permits, the engine is back at Gessford, George picked it up over Thanksgiving.
I had our Midstates out this past week to stretch it's legs, always a blast! I strapped our 4 yr old in and off we went!

Hope to see you at some events this summer!

Leslie and Charles

Thumbs up

Clois:

Here's the information on our track day at Putnam Park June 21st.

Mark Pfeffer

__________________________________________________ __

The second annual St. Louis Area Lotus Lovers (STALLS) and Lotus Ltd. (www.LotusCarClub.org) track day at Putnam Park road course (www.PutnamPark.com) in Mt. Meridian, IN. Hopefully the weather will be as beautiful as the 2003 event and the driving even more fun. Our track day is open to all cars which pass tech inspection.

We've changed the date from September to Monday, June 21st. For those of you wondering why? Let's just say there's this F1 race at Indy Sunday, June 20th some of us would like to see. After watching the F1 boys we can go emulate our favorite F1 driver(s) on the road course at Putnam Park.

HMMM a weekend of speed!

The price is the same as last year $225 for Lotus Ltd. members and $235 for non-members. How about that for no inflation. The same rules apply including limiting the event to 45 cars so we all get plenty of track time again. Like the 2003 event, we will have early tech inspections the evening before at a local hotel and at the track the day of the event. We will have instructors on hand as well.

For those of you worried about hotel accommodations with the F1 race nearby, I've blocked 15 double rooms at the Holiday Inn Express (765)795-5050 and 10 rooms at the Days Inn (765) 795-6400 both in Cloverdale, IN. The rooms are being held under "Lotus Ltd." You are responsible for hotel reservation and payment. Both hotels are about 10 minutes from Putnam Park.

Upon receipt of your application and check, I'll forward a track day packet to you with all the pertinent information.

If you have questions or would like a registration form, contact me at (314) 889-0572 or e-mail me at Feffman@Yahoo.com.

Happy Motoring!!!

Mark,

Thanks for the info. That date won't work for me this year but maybe next. Do you have any Cobra's show up for this event?
Is there a racing format or is it more of a high speed touring day?
