Unique 289_FIA 03-07-2004 04:40 PM

FYI, my last name is Istre (a ride in the Cobra for the first person who pronounces it correctly! :D)

Robert

DAVID GAGNARD 03-07-2004 05:08 PM

Robert;

I can pronounce it correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You kin to Harry Istre?????? Works for the same insurance company I do in claims,lives in Kaplan.....works the Lafayette area........speak to him monthly.........

Do I get the ride???????

Do you want me to tell the others how it is pronounced?????

David (fellow cajun,just a little north of you)

Unique 289_FIA 03-07-2004 08:17 PM

David,
Seeing how Harry (no relation that I'm aware of) lives in Kaplan, I'm sure you've got the pronunciation correct. The ride is yours! :) Let's see if anyone else wants to guess before you reveal. :)

Robert

kountzecobra 03-07-2004 08:52 PM

Pronounced "EAST"

Doug I 03-07-2004 11:55 PM

I knew, but I've already had a ride. That SA354 does make it go.

The long range forecast looks promising.

regards

Unique 289_FIA 03-08-2004 12:48 PM

Must've been too easy for you guys! 3 replies and they all knew it. I'm much more used to mispronunciations! I'm impressed! :D

Robert

DAVID GAGNARD 03-08-2004 02:20 PM

Robert;

What did you expect,a Boudreaux and a Gagnard,my grandparents hardly spoke english and my parents spoke as much french as english,not sure about David Shelton's heritage, but the other two may be dumb cajuns,we at least we can speak the language........

See you at NPR and looking forward to the "ride"...

David

Doug I 03-10-2004 11:06 AM

and I'm still learning this 'American' lingo. Boot = trunk, bonnet = hood, windscreen = windshield, foorpath = sidewalk, carpark = parking lot, tap = fawcet ......

and then ya'll go put the steering wheel on da wrong side o the car :(

:)

DAVID GAGNARD 03-10-2004 01:18 PM

Doug I;

You tink thats somthing,wait till you get in a car at NPR with some dumb,crazy Cajun and he tells you "I'm going to drop the hammer"....a word of advise,have your seat belts and helmet tight.....BTW,we can drive with the steering wheel on the wrong side,simple,we just turn around go the other way on the road,see how easy that was.......

See you at NPR.....

David

Doug I 03-10-2004 02:39 PM

LOL - Robin knows about turning it round and going the other way ..... 3 times in 1 lap if I recall :3DSMILE:

Hard right turns and the car would 'fade' then come back on the straight ..... hmmmm ..... the gas needle goes da udder way :)

In New Zealand we have truck racing like you do here in the States ......
http://www.ffrcobra.com/Doug_I/truck21.jpg
.... well maybe just a little different ;)

and when we drop the hammer ....
http://www.ffrcobra.com/Doug_I/truck26.jpg
.... we drop it hard. :)

DAVID GAGNARD 03-10-2004 03:55 PM

Doug I;

Our trucks are just a tad smaller,both in size and engine.... I have seen these trucks racing on the tv,those guys are CRAZY,and when they wreck,well,they do a good job.........

David

Doug I 03-10-2004 06:43 PM

yup ....... those things will get to 100mph in 12 seconds and run a 1/4 mile in 13.

and yeah .... when they wreck they take not only themselves out but a fair amount of countryside as well.

hey we did invent bungy jumping ....... **)

Crazy Cajuns ?

Last summer in Port Aransas my son and I ate at a place called The Crazy Cajun.Great food and we met the owner.We then understood why he named it The Crazy Cajun.

My son is wondering if he will be honored with meeting some more "crazy cajuns" ??:3DSMILE:

Really looking forward to it.
I worked for years out of that area on geophysical seismic survey ships. Always had a great time onshore.

Doug I 03-12-2004 07:40 PM

I've heard dem texens are to be watched ... :3DSMILE:

DAVID GAGNARD 03-13-2004 01:56 PM

Fed;

Pretty shore you gonna meet some "crazy cajuns" or as we are know locally "crazy coon a$$es"....I'll be there,been told by most people that know me and a lot that do not know me that I am "crazy"....O-K with me,having a ball lately,Doug Reed usually brings a few of them cajuns also....Word of warning,when you see one get in his car or worse yet someone else's car at NPR and says "hey you'll,watch this",be sure it's not your car and get out of his way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David (aka-crazy cajun)
