Best deal for Open trackers
For you Northeast guys who are not afraid of Open tracking your Cobra, The Rochester Shelby Club has just about the best deal you will find in our area.
Watkins Glen Full Course June7 th 8th.
Five one hour sessions per day for "experienced" open trackers.
Five 1/2 hour sessions per day for students with an instructor.
Nobody gives you this much track time.
Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart don't get to drive the Glen for five hours in a day.
So far only about forty signed up and Free garages are available, to those that sign up early.
Stop procrastinating, you ain't gonna find a better deal anyplace.

Special deal
For the June 7,8 event only. Bring four of your buddies with you and five get to run for the price of four. The late entry fee is $425 but you pay only $340 for this late promotion.
No other club running the Glen has a deal like this.
You can run around in a parade at the SAAC convention and get maybe 1 hr. of track time or you can join us at the Glen and get five hours of quality high speed track time.

How could anyone turn down 5 hours of great sex with Pamela Anderson???
This track is the grandaddy of American Road Racing. If you don't want to bring your Cobra, go rent a racer like McFEz did for Beaverun. Cranky may be able to provide instruction to the lucky few that respond early enough.
Currently 40 cars signed up for 2 - 3 run groups...that means less than 20 cars on the 3 mile course...plenty of room to stretch your legs and open her up!
I hope I recover from the 5+ hours the Crankoids got each day at Beaverun!!!

Your OK
The Green rule seems to overide all the other rules. If you show enough green(entry fee) you can run.
To be serious for a second, the tracks have backed off a little on the requirements for full rollbars in Cobras. As long as you have a drivers side rollbar you can run. The only problem is that some instructors will not ride in a car with a single hoop rollbar. In that case you have to do lead follow instruction which takes much longer to learn the line and track etiquette.
Sign up, we will work with you.

Cranky's correct, as of late there seems to be more incidents with Cobras on the street rather than the track. As a result, it has not been as difficult for racing organizations to get an insurance rider for these events, this eases the requirements on FPSBs.
Dependent on any track experience in your Cobra or otherwise will determine what group you'll run in. Probably end up in Novice.
Pointers:
- Leave yer testosterone at home.
- Be prepared to be passed by lesser VWs and Toyotas. Its a fact of life. Attend all classromm sessions.
- Have catch cans on all your fluids.
- Street tires are OK, just don't run too hard or deep into the corners.
BTW:
- My first track event was in 1997 at Watkins Glen in my first Cobra, a Unique 427SC with a 428CJ moder with street tires and brakes. Since I was just learning, I was not running very hard, but hard enough to learn a lot and occasionally scare myself.
Great event, with a great group running the event as well as participating.

Chappy,
It 4 to 4.5 hours from central NJ. We usually caravan up with tow vehicles & trailers, but occasionally have folks drive their cars up. You can drive if you like, we have plenty of tools for any problems on the way or at the track.

John-
Thanks. It sounds like a really good time, but it's too far for me to go this year (new baby at home). At this point I'm lucky if I can get the car out for a 1/2 hour drive around town. Next year though, I'd like to go along and check it out . . . and maybe I'll even have a trailer by then Need to start laying the groundwork for that next

Crankoids,
I'll be there this Summer; the trailer's on order. I'm looking at August/Sept. Which event do you suggest? In the meantime, I'm doing the Superformance shindig at Loew's (missed you guys at the last one!) and joining the St. Louis Lotus Lovers at Putnam Park. So I'll be a little warmed up for y'all. The list for Putnam Park is quite interesting:
Jon Wilker BMW 325
Jake O'Neill Lotus Elan
Doug "AXE" Axelrod Superperformance Cobra
Michael Langley Ferrari 348TS
Peter Keebler Porsche 944 S2
Phil Miller Lotus Esprit JPS
Robert Walker Superperformance Cobra
Sanjaya Vatuk Lotus Esprit SE
Wayne Seely Alfa Romeo GTV 2000
Tim Ross Mazda Miata
Gil Cox Lancia Scorpion
Mark Bartlett Acura NSX
John Hooser Lotus Esprit V8
John Welch Lotus Esprit SE
Rudy Oliver Z06 Corvette
Scott Richey Contemporary FIA Cobra
Tom Christensen Audi R8 Lemans (Nissan 350Z)
Steve Vache Toyota Supra Turbo
Know any of these guys?

Doug,
You probably won't see us at any Superformance events. Last year we were all signed up and at the last minuite we got uninvited by the powers to be. My guess is they didn't want any other brands passing a SPF on the track(They probably remembered us from the year before) as it would look bad in the video. Too bad, we had a good time at VIR.
As far as the Glen goes check our schedule posted on Club Cranky, we run there at least once a month thru Oct.
