Replacing a side pipe muffler

Where can you get a replacement muffler, one of mine has a large dent in it?

Classic Chambered Exhaust sells glass pack mufflers that area fairly easy weld in job. If I can do it, it can't be that hard. It was certainly an improvment for my car.

Mick, which do you use the ones with packing or without. I'm changing mine but want to get to extremely load. Mine are too quiet right now.

I typically use the packed ones. If the customers want them loud and more performance oriented I face the louvers inside the muffler towards the back. If they are facing the front they scoop more exhaust into the baffles and it gives it a nice tone I think. If loud is what you're really after go without packing and rear facing louvers. I wouldn't recommend it though, remember the tailpipe is right below your ear. The other trick is just a slight downturn on the tailpipes. Too much downward angle and the noise is bouncing right back up at ya. Check out a few sound byte examples on the site.

I also use the louvers in my stainless pipes, had it with the fiberglass/packing.
I pointed them to the back and I don't think their too loud & really like the sound. Here's a link to hear them. (with a big block) Keep in mind, I made the video for the buyer of my engine.

Well I got the new mufflers and installed them. This is one of the best upgrades I have made to my car. I was just looking for a different sound, I got the sound I was looking for. It sounds like I got a new motor, it is unbelievable. The core on my old muffler was 1 1/2" ID and the new ones are 2 1/2" ID. I know it had to free up hp, Eric says between 30 and 50 to the rear wheels. A big thanks to Classic Chambered I'm so pleased. I'll attach a couple of pics and a sound bite later.

I like these mufflers, sound great and can free up some HP/TQ, but certainly not 50 rwhp, not a chance. That would mean apx. 60-80 at the crank. We've tested on the chassis dyno at around 15-25.

I'll never go back to the original type systems that a lot of replica manufactures make. Their very restrictive !

Believe what you want. Go to the Classic Chambered web site and read the performance data page. He just goes by what he has seen on the dyno. Can't argue with numbers.

Answer to a PM. The ones I got are 24" long. I've never installed anything that was exactly like the instructions he provides on the web site. I wouldn't say easy because there is cutting, grinding and welding involved but not bad. 3 hours start to finish. Then just paint and install on the car.

Keyword being " slight ". Too much of an angle will also kick up the loose dirt etc., etc......especially when on non-paved grounds at car show, cruise nights etc., even on paved streets.
