Thankyou everyone for your help. My 63 1/2 ford 427 center oilier, would benefit from an oil cooler because it does get hot. But when i do install one, i will put in a thermostat. that just makes sense.

Anyone know how many extra litres (quart) should be added to make sure there is enough to cover the complete system.

A remote filter adds about half a quart, a nice oil cooler also adds about half a quart. With my Canton pan, an oil change runs about 8.5 to 9 quarts.

One more hint, if you can, it's nice to have some of the fittings easy to access so you can drain the lines and cooler when you change your oil.

Default Oil change

I use 8.5qt with a 8qt pan....the cooler doesn't get drained.
