Pedal Box Help

Need some opinions guys- I'm not quite sure which direction to go in selecting a pedal box. I really don't want to use a donor as suggested in the build manual. I was contemplating the pedal box that Shell Valley offers (3 mc's w/ slave included, $471). There's also Wilwood and Tilton, but I'm not sure how much fab work it would take to install these. (I'm also looking for an easy route). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry

I installed a Tilton Racing floor mounted pedal set.

I used the small Girling type mc's but still had to go through the firewall. I made an insulated alum plate mounted on the header side of the footbox. This works fine, sometimes too fine. Absolutely no heat comes through from the engine. Going on 5 years on the road. Pic of plate below is looking up from the ground.

Reservoirs are mounted on the firewall.

HINT: Do not forget to attach a RPV in each line after your mc ports on both front and rear brake system to eliminate air problems on a floor system. At less than 35 bucks for both, Wildwood part number 2601874.

I never had RPV's. Brakes seem to work fine. Maybe I need them, maybe not...??

Jerry: go to www.fasttimescobras.com talk with Pete Clark ph: 716-366-1806. He actually makes a lot of parts that will work on the A & C Cobra. Pete use to work there as the fab guy.
His prices are great and knows what he is doing and can also give advice. Of course it helps if you buy stuff.

Hello Jerry

Give Joe at A&C a call and ask him if he still has the drawing I sent him (John from Cleveland) about 3 years ago. I can't find a copy in my records. Joe should still have it as he wanted to offer it as an option.

An engineer friend made me a drawing that I sent to Joe who fabricated a nice heavy duty pedal box that is bolted to the top of my foot box. It is slopped to take the angle out of the foot box etc. I hang my wilwood pedal assembly from that and have my 3 master cylinders (hydrulic T/O) comming off it.

The only thing I would change is the the box is welded at all the seams. The wilwood pedal assembly has a balance bar that needs to be adjusted for brake bias. If the top of this pedal box came off with bolts, it would be real easy to adjust the bias. Now I have to find a skinny friend to slide under the dash to do that, as I won't fit.

If I could figure out how to post a photo I would but....Like I say, give joe a call. I could always e-mail you a photo direct.

Hi Jerry i have also used the tilton set up like roscoe has and it works wonderful. much easier ho big master cyl hanging around. also its pretty impressive looking when people look in your car. good luck nekl
