Automan.
Easiest painting coating ect i"ve done. Strip the part. I was going to bead blast everything. But my compressor does not have the volume (5hp). I used a chemical stripper from Lowes. Very easy to get the primmer off the part . Then I used M.E.K and wipe down the part for grease after stripping.. Hang the part from my ladder. Use the summit powder gun. The gun is self contained no compressor. It uses a fan similiar to a hair dyer to blow the powder on the part. There is also a ground wire (with a alligator clip) from the power supply to attract the powder to the part. The covering is similiar to baby powder and goes a long way. I bought some from summit which was expensive 1.5oz for $3.50 or $ 6.00 for 1lb from harbor freight. I bought a oven of ebay for $21. I modified it to take longer parts. I used my IR temperature to check the progress. Cook for 20 min for 400F after the powder melts. The hardest thing is getting the part from the hook on the ladder to in the oven without bumping it. Any touching or rubbing on the part will ruin the finish.
Modified oven to take larger parts.
