Rear brake options?

Hello, I just received my A and C frame last week and I am looking into the choices for what brakes to use. I found all of the parts for the front brakes from a 75 mustang II. I am having trouble locating the parts for the rear brakes. I know the book says that you can get the parts used from a 74-77 torino, montego or thunderbird, but I am unable to locate any used parts from these cars. I heard something about a conversion kit from a ford explorer. I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for other rear brake options besides those.

Joe can supply you the Explorer SVO Rear Disk Brakes, that's what most of us run.

Congratulation's!!!
Post some pics of your car.

Explorer rear disc are 11" with a emergency brake combined. I found a 1995 at pull a part. You need to get the rear disc bracket from the junk yard. You need to pull the axles and loosen the brackets to get them off. Leave the disc's and calipers behind. The bracket bolts up to the rear end. I got the calipers and rotors from

The emergency cables work but get 2 of the shorter cables I can't remember which side is shorter.

You'll need a spacer for the bracket. The same company that makes the axle sells them. 9inchfactory store.

I think I have less then 200 dollars in rear brakes.

That is great, that is exactly what I needed to know.

I just have the frame on Jack stands right now because I am still trying to get all the parts together slowly but surely.

Here is a picture of the bracket off the explorer. I bought the spacer after this photo. The spacer (looks like a skinnywasher) slides on first then the four hole end cap, the brake bracket then the bearing and finale the locking ring. The locking ring is pressed down with a press.

The guys on the forum here alway quick with a answer.

rdc767, I was just looking at your picture gallery, what color blue is that? It looks very familar.

Kinda make you go hmmmm? I picked the color from a ppg color swatch #16640. It looked little darker on the swatch. Back in april 07. Nice color.

Kinda wonder if they had some left over paint from your build??

It's funny you mention that, but I do think it's something AC does. I had mine done in a custom Pepsi blue, and Joe told me the next guy in line to get his body saw it and is going to use the same color.

Brakes, I picked up a new set of Ford Racing, explorer disk brake set up off of Ebay for $249..

Again sorry for the hijacking...

My color is the Windveil Blue from the newer Mustangs. Obviously that color is a metallic color, this is how it looks as a solid. I get a lot of compliments. I think it looks much better in person than in pictures. If you're ever passing through Richmond, we'll have to do a side by side comparison.
