17" on an A & C

I'm thinking of making a change to my tire & wheel gear after 7 years and 13k miles. Fronts need new rubber (scalloped) the rears are still great shape.
Currently Torq-Thrust 15x7's with 235 60 BFG up front and 15x10's with 295x50 BFG in rear. Current wheels have standard American Racing back spacing (don't know what it is without taking off wheels to check) I have the the spinners for the wheels as well.
I am looking at Vintage 17" wheels with the adaptors for knock off spinners.
Any suggestions on what back spacing and tire combinations I should be looking at for an A & C.
Also any examples of 17's on an A & C pic's would be great.
Also, if anyone is interested in the Torq Thrusts, tires and spinners, make an offer.

I'm looking to do the same when I get to that point and had spoken to eddietheb, he builds alot of A&C cars for customers and he told me 17 x 8 front with 4 1/4 bs 245/45/17 and 17x9.5 with 3 1/2 bs 285/40/17

Also look in my gallery 17x8 on the front and 17x11 on the back with 4" backspacing on both. Bermblaster

I have a set of Vintage 17" for my A&C. Bob knew the backspacing and widths required. I can measure mine this weekend though to confirm. If I remember correctly he went a .5" wider than what A&C recommended. I can't though testify to their fit since I don't have my body on the chassis yet!

Sorry for the delay. Mine 9" in the front 11" in the rear both with 4.5" offsets.

Are they the knock off with the adaptors that bolt to the 5 lug spindles?

I am wondering about the tire clearance and how they look on the A & C body.
Have you put the body on yet?

I do have the knock off's the offset I listed include the .5" they add.
Unfortunatly I haven't gotten the body on yet, so I can't tell you about how they'll look once it's all done..

look at john poling's gallery he had an a&c with 17" wheels. He sold it now but I had asked him and he had 245 45 in the front and 315 35 in the back but he did say that one rear tire rubbed a little on hard turns

We have run up to a 335 35 18 with out a problem the thing is you really have to float the body with the wheels and tires you want to run. You also have to make sure your link bars are adjusted just right. One thing to keep in mind is the bigger the rim the more rotating mass so you should always increase the size of your brakes along with the size of your wheels.

IMO, when you step back and take a long hard look a 17'' on a cobra.....it's butt ugly....

Tire and wheel size is a funny thing, I have found over the years that the color of the car makes a difference in how the tire wheel combo looks. I also paint the stripes different sizes for different color cars. The dark color cars with lighter colored strips I make wider than cars with dark stripes and light color bodies, up to an inch and a half wider.

Red car has 17s silver car has 18s

Take a look at my picks. My wheels are made by american racing, i paid around 1500.00 for all 4 9" front and 11" rear with 4.5 backset makes the care look beefyer or something. I hate those 15" wheels with the big ballon tires.

I have the 17" on my SPF. 9.5" front and 11.5" rear. Michelin pilots currently going to the PS2 Michelins. If you want 335 rears, these are it. You would have to go to the 315's. I have knock off's with the adapters.

These are the new shoes!$$$$

17" wheels will work on any brand Cobra. Remember, 17" wheels and15" wheels are basically the same size once they're installed. 15" tires have a taller sidewall and 17" wheels will have a shorter sidewall.
