Default It's back alive

Well as some of you know my car died on the way home from "Kit Cars on the Colorado"

After many hard pressed hours (ask Jeff) my car is back on the road and even faster now with a bigger cam and a bigger carb.

Look out all you big block owners.

Thanks Jeff Classic, you are a true class act.

Dan

Even though Jeff is a true Chebby fan, he's had lots of experience working on Fords, for the obvious reason.

If this motor goes again I may well consider a Chevy motor, but I will never paint the car Chebby Orange.

It would be tough covering the goofy grape paint job anyway.. You could put orange stripes on it though and tell everyone your Christmas Candy.

Any bets on how long this motor lasts?

Glad you're running again Dan.

That motor should be making some good numbers with the new roller and the right carb.

Dan, Did you and Jeff ever figure out what went on with the other two? I've been doing some research on it and have found explanations that run the gammit from excessive spring pressure to poor oiling to gremlins in the crankcase.

In any event, I'm glad you're up and running.

Wow ... what or who too respond to first. Thanks Dan for your kind words and enjoy your new Toy.

Hey Karlos all I can say is yep.

Now to Mikie, what ya saying on the bet of how long it will last? I am already having nightmares of being adopted by a ford engine, Oh the possibilities! I hope the bet is talking more about his drifting technique and not my ability to glue the parts together.

Carnut, she does have a nice pop to her now and runs decent. Not decent enough to be calling out the local big blocks like he did.... but decent.

Danr, I like the idea of painting it orange, Chebby orange. Then again that would make 3 cars in Chebby orange (your car, mine and Dans new color). Thanks for any new ideas and research but after talking to the warranty dept. I feel vindicated. They suspect a hardening issue and are sending it for inspection/testing as visuals show a fault. Then again trying to get them to buy gaskets etc. is a battle. Had a very interesting and informed conversation with their engineer about the cam that failed on me so ask me about it when I see you next. All the flat tappet cams out there in old builds are at risk of advanced wear with todays oil!!!! You can bet I won't be assuming risk of a flat tappet cam with the issues I can not control or even prove to degree needed to be made whole.

Congrats Dan. Hope to see you and your "new" Cobra on the 5th. PS. Maybe you better not challenge Karl just yet.

Jeff,

Not auguing with your building skill, just Rat boys driving habits. They call him Sideways Ratboy for a reason.

Yes,

His sideways was far better, in a bad way, than Scotts.

Ya, I don't want to mess with Karl. I was thinking of some of the easier big block boys like Danr55 or Broberg without his little cheater system.

I can't wait to see your tire marks on the 5th. Maybe a longest tire mark contest ? First Prize is a set of two rear tires.

John, Do we measure the distance in a straight line or follow Ratboy's tire marks?

Straight line - that means that you have the car under control. And, that you are the driver and not the passenger.

John, Dan and Danr, youse guys are forgetting that Jeff has that nasty RAT motor back in his car. Even after he stuck some Texas toast head gaskets in it to lower the compression, it is still mas formidible. Besides this huge torque monster motor, Jeff has the experience, knowledge, and attitude to burn his tires down to the cord.
