U.S. Military Field jacket
OK,
You Vet's... What is the best way to clean a Field jacket? Ginny says it needs to be cleaned or tossed. Now, I will not toss it as it is mine, I earned it and I'll keep it and it FITS again. But, it is groady. Wash or Dry clean? Mike |
Warm soapy water and air dry. I have my original field jacket from Basic Training. Looks like it is brand new. That Jacket is almost 30 years old.

I have washed and dried mine in the regular wash several times. It still looks good and it is 20 years old.

+1 for wash and dry, just dry it on gentle, not "broil." LOL Mine have been washed many times.

In Arizona, I suggest you just hang it up outside and let it air dry. Dryers are tough on clothes... Specially on old clothes... I don't think they were ever designed to be put in a dryer.

Mine is 33 years...although I didn't get in bootcamp...Seabees. it's been dry cleaned a few times.

Wash in cold water and small amount of mild dertegent, air dry.

Well, after it's first and only washing in over 35 years it came out a little worse for wear.
Some if the stitching came unwraveled. Ginny is coming to the rescue and will fix it. Mike |
