Some detective work should reveal it, plenty of clues in the Ad. 12th Comp car, never registered for the street, Elvis Spinout movie car, etc.

I will stick with my Superformance. A lot cheaper and probably just as fun to drive. I don't have to worry as much of a soccer mom on her cell phone plowing into me. I would be afraid to drive a million dollar cobra.

I watched that car get sold last year as I had my superformance in the same auction. Something must of fallen through or the buyer from last year is trying to flip it. It sold to someone in California I believe. I spoke to the new buyer directly after the hammer fell as they brought the car back to directly across from mine waiting to go up on the block. The rpevious seller had lifted the reserve I just dont remember how much it sold for. Interesting....

Beautiful car but was rebodied and rechassied a while back. The purity of the car is a bit sullied and it's becoming a "frequent flyer" on the auction trail and that can chase buyers away.

How many of the original Comp cars were dry sump? If any... I know Dick Smiths car was, BUT, was that done AFTER delivery of the car and not an "original" Comp car deal?

Reason I ask is because THIS one doesn't have the oil fill cap up front, outside of hood area.

That is a very nice looking car but why is it being sold so many times? I wouldn't mind having it if Ernie would lend me the money.

Rebodied and rechassied? So what's original, the VIN plate?

Pardon me while I swoon.

What makes you think this is dry sump? Did I miss that in the text? Looks like a fairly standard oiling set-up from the pics - certainly not the set-up with the oil fill cap outside up near the front wheel well.

Ok, after reading the invoice in the Register I may see why it is not selling as well as it looks. It is still a nice looking car, but there seems to be some questions about some things. And if anyone offered it to me I sure wouldn't refuse it.

I agree, but that is some pretty detailed info of owners.

I think you read the message wrong. Ex is saying that it doesn't have the oil cap on the fender and therefore may not be a comp car for that reason. Hence, the question, "how many comp cars were dry sump?"

I know of a red comp car that was dry sumped.

Whether it's a Ferrari, Hemi Cuda, Ram Air IV GTO Judge Convertible, Cobra, etc., for these big buck type cars, I know I would definitely want a "no stories" car.

However, I'll never have to worry about that problem.

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

I think it likely IS a Comp car, just wondering if ANY of the original Comp cars WERE originally dry sump. Like Dick Smiths #98 car IS dry sump, but when? By whom? What about the rest of the Comp cars?

...come to think of it, Dick Smiths (God rest his soul) #98 is an original Comp car, isn't it???
