Default CSX 2091 sale at Barrett Jackson

I dont know the history of this particular car but was suprised it only went for $365K plus the 10%. Anyone know the history of the car or if there might be a reason it didnt go for higher?

I looked it over today and was quite impressed. It had significant restoration work done in '95, but nothing to my knowledge that would significantly lower the value. SPEED was interviewing Shelby while the car was being auctioned and even he commented something to the effect, "You never know what these will go for; could be 620 or 640 thousand." Surprise, surprise.

The specs on the car are posted at http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...vecarlist.aspx Enter lot #1303 in the search criteria.

Ron, auction history has these original 289 roadster cars in the $300+ range for quite a while. The big bucks come in when there is "history" attached such as a big name owner or racing record. CSX 2091 was not a 427 S/C and was a made for the street roadster, no side pipes or roll bar. It does not have the original engine or trans. It is still a nice car and $401K total price is still a good price. The other original 1964 that sold for a total of $478K had history, had original everything and a Paxton supercharger.

Prices were down everywhere. Nothing over $1M. Remember that a CSX car went in Vegas for $400K so this was my bogey range for these.

Based upon the history of this 289 I was expecting about 400K.

I was surprised that a couple of them sold for what they did. Maybe the economy had something to do with it as a lot of the cars I watched sold went for less than they would have a few years ago. Even a Hemi Cuda went for less than I expected it would.

Default Today AZ republic

Barrett-Jackson's top-selling car as of early Saturday evening was a 1963 Shelby Cobra Roadster, whose top bid reached $401,500. A 1929 Hamilton Metalplane H47 brought in $671,000.

At Gooding, one of the day's big spenders was Jeff Moore of Houston. Cigar in hand, he was sure he had snagged a deal, paying $1.03 million for a gold 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C with a value estimated as high as $2.5 million.

Moore, a collector with 42 cars, said he already had interested buyers asking about the one-owner Cobra. One of them was Rob Clemens of Kansas City.

"I'm not a rich guy, but I know you stole that car," Clemens said of what he viewed as a bargain.

Clemens paid $632,500 for a black 1967 Shelby Cobra 427 on Friday at the RM Auctions.

You're missing CSX2281 that sold for $435,000 plus 10% for a total of $478,500.
