Cruise Control

I have abandoned my efforts to install a cruise control on my cobra. I had an epiphany: if I need a cruise control it's time to sell my cobra and drive something easier. I don't intend to do either. Subject done.
I still have a right leg.

At first I thought it was funny that anyone would consider this. Then I remembered being on a long stretch of the freeway and needing to reset my accelerator foot because it was cramping up. There isn't much room to switch feet in a Cobra.

cruise control

Hey guys,
I'm one of those that has cc and use it all the time. I hate playing leapfrog and have been accused of using it too much in any vehicle. I'm one of those that suffer from a mild form of road rage, one pass only don't do it again. Leave the car and I'm fine once again. To me it's a no-brainer. 209

With air conditioning, power steering, i don't think anyone will say much about your cruise control...:D:cool:

Some of us live on cruise control

Some of us live on cruise control. With my M.S. - multiple sclerosis, not the male stupidity, my leg cramps up in about 1/2 hour of driving. On the Willys I have an automatic disconnect for the speedometer while on cruise. I thought I would need this for my last insurance company that only allowed 2500 miles a year. Plus you can devote more of your attention to more important things while on cruise.. the radio, the girl walking down the street, opening a beer, talking on you cell etc..

Ummm.............I don't want to know.

Fitz 02-27-2010 12:16 AM

My leg cramped up the other day and the dam foot jerked up; my knee hit some wires under the dash and ripped something lose. Shocked myself a few times so I had to put the cell phone down, stop texting and drinking coffee. Dam leg was out of control. Getting old is hell!

Karl Bebout 02-27-2010 03:35 PM

God, Fitz, I sure hope you didn't screw up your zillion dollar stereo or your air conditioning when your knee zapped out of control. I've had the same leg cramps but they have always forced my right foot to the floor board...honest, officer.

Free Beer

Bob,
Want to trade the Cruise control unit for some BEER?
Bill:)

To me cruise control and an automatic transmission in a Corbr is a sacrilige but I have MS too and last year had to switch from my trusty old top loader to an AOD. I am using the cc in my PU a lot more and believe that cc in "Sneaky Snake" would be helpful too. What kind of cruise control are you using? I have the old rod style accelerator control. Is there any cc that would work better with it? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Rick

Fitz,
Was their a girl in the car with you ? Is she OK ?

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 02-28-2010 09:41 PM

I have the cruise control kit but am not going to use it. This is it: http://www.amazon.com/Audiovox-CCS10.../dp/B00029WQTW
I even made a bracket to attach to the dash and covered in black vinyl for the switches, but I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger. I ain't that old yet. This kit is not made anymore so I am torn whether I should sell it or keep it a few years when I might change my mind. Karl might need it now.

AZ Bob

Karl Bebout 02-28-2010 09:54 PM

Bob, go ahead and use the CC. It'll go along with your cup holders, stereo, and AC...or is that a different BOB?
