Default Tin-man needs to get insurance for his SPF Cobra, suggestions?

My current, soon to be nixed, insurance company, Travelers, turned me down flat when I asked them to provide minimum insurance for my SPF Cobra, they said they don't provide insurance for "kit cars". Problem is in Arizona the state requires a minimum amount of insurance before you can drive. I am self insured but the cops don't buy that, so need a piece of paper saying I have minimum coverage, anyone have suggestions? I would be gratefull for any and all suggestions, thanks. tin-man

Tin-Man
I use this company only because they had it covered with the previous owner and it was easy. Only about $300 a year but your car will be a bit higher based on it's value.

By the way, your car is not a "kit car".

Insurance for SPF MK3

All of your answers are in this thread. Call Robbin at Classic...I saved over $400/yr moving from Allstate, have guaranteed replacement value coverage and more miles/yr. Great to work with, too.

5-7500. Have to look at policy but you never drive more then that on average year to year.

Thanks fitz. My ins. co. only allows 2500 a year. I am looking to put on much closer to 7500.

thanks again. I gave Tom Foltz a call to see if I can get that insurance in Mass.

Ditto. Tom is a good guy and is easy to work with. For some reason, the Infinity policies that they write are now unlimited mileage in some States (California is one of them).

Default Barlow Insurance

Talk to Jonathan Barlow at 1-800-558-7772, www.Barlowinsurance.net, he is a great guy who knows Cobras. He is easy to deal with and his rates are great. I just signed up with him.

Default Grundy Worldwide

I have both my snakes insured with Grundy Worldwide - Collector Car Insurance. For $458 annually on the Cobra I get unlimited mileage; $50,000 liability, uninsured motorist, and underinsured motorist; $1,000 medical payments; $31,500 declared value collision and comprehensive with zero deductable. There are some use restrictions (work, shopping, competitive racing events, etc.), but nothing you would probably use a recreational/collector vehicle for anyway.

Ditto on Robbin at Midwest Classic. Recommended by Pete Brock, lowest prices and great coverage. Great car guy too!

It better be or you are going to owe a lot in registration fees... not to mention putting on emissions and bumpers to bring it up to spec...

I use these guys:
http://www.americancollectors.com/

No mileage restrictions, 300K/300K/100K uninsured motorist(which you have to have in AZ), towing , rental cars, underinsured motorist (see above) etc. agreed value on my Mustang of $40k - $130 / yr, agreed value on my vette $50K $278/yr when I had my tupperware Cobra it was $250/yr @ $45K.

They pay when you smash your car, ask Karlos...

Very easy, you need a locking garage and at least one modern car for every collector car... min age is 25.

I did have my SPF car on Allstate for a while , but this is way cheaper . Allstate does not take replicas in any case - my car was titled as an AC Cobra by a previous owner..

Nope. It's just a kit car that you didn't build....

Yo Maricopa, you know how to hurt a guy huh? Well look at it this way, I finally figured out where to put the gas and engine oil, starting the car was a little more difficult since I thought it was voice activated, lol. Must looked like a complete idiot standing there yelling at the beast to start. Some guy who drove an Orange Chebby asked me if I was given a set of keys and he showed me how to start it. Me build, I don't think so, I am too old, can't see, have zero patience, but do love Cobra's. So I made the ultimate sacrifice and decided to have somebody better qualified than me build it.tin-man
