Danr55 08-29-2011 08:48 AM

Big Bore lever gun.. Sounds nice. Let's go hunt buffalo or elephant or something.

Car Nut 08-29-2011 09:06 AM

Gonna see it Tuesday? :)

mikiec 08-29-2011 09:07 AM

It's to pretty to shoot.... LOL. I'm going to sight it in this weekend.

Big enough for T-Rex.

dave from mesa 08-29-2011 01:21 PM

Mikie it's 45 colt not 45/70. Only if T-Rex is a dog.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 08-29-2011 01:40 PM

My 45-70 is a Marlin Alaskan Trapper Model 1895 in stainless. :D

dave from mesa 08-29-2011 02:00 PM

Don't know if mine is an Alaskan Trapper or not. Says 1895GS. Short barrel w/ports stainless w/wood stock. Is the Alaskan a synthetic stock?

mikiec 08-29-2011 02:17 PM

Dave, A baby T-rex.

Yes, I'll have it Tuesday night. Gotta break the new waitress in correctly.

Danr55 08-29-2011 04:02 PM

So ya'll goin carin' or shootin' Tuesday nite?

Karl Bebout 08-29-2011 04:59 PM

The first high powered rifle, with a scope, I fired, was a Marlin 45-70. Learned real quick to maintain a LOT of eye relief from the scope. Bled like a stuck hog!

dave from mesa 08-29-2011 05:18 PM

That's why if I scope mine it will be a scout scope.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 08-29-2011 06:02 PM

Mine is also a Model 1895GS, 18.5 inch barrel, 4 round tube magazine, wood stock. It doesn't have an ports that I can find. Mine was marketed as the Alaskan Trapper at the tiime, although they also market it as the Guide gun with a longer barrel, but they are basically all similar.

Mine is basically the one on the Marlin website under 1895GS.

Certainly a "man's gun", with expensive cartridges.

mikiec 08-30-2011 06:56 AM

And big cartridges.
