Question Arizona Cobra Mechanics?

I just bought CSX4167, it's being shipped from St. Louis and should be here in a couple weeks. I want to have the car fully checked out before driving it fast. Where are you Arizona guys taking your cars?

Thanks.

Ditto for me - Hot Rods by Dean. Congrats on your car. I just live 10 minutes from you in scottsdale and have csx4910. I am curious to see one of the earlier ones. I assume those are Alum or are they glass?

Carb work go to Bob Reams 602-377-4093 at 6510 W Aster Dr (67th Ave Thunderbird)...no person better on carb stuff. He is a master on engine carbs.

If you want other and suspension stuff talk - go see Gordon Levy.

Hot Rod sounds like a good place too.

If you want it done right and done right the first time, take it to Tom Barnard at Speedway Classic Cars, (702) 651-0708 in Las Vegas, NV. NOBODY knows these 4000 series cars better than Tom. You won't regret it!

Mine is glass. When I get the car, I'll let you know if you want to meet up.

Thanks.

Wgen is your car getting here? It is waaaay better than any chrsitmas morning I proimise you. I would suggest putting a block of 2x4 under the gas pedal to give you a bit of seat time before being able to run it past 1/3 to 1/2 throttle to get used to it unless you are an expisrenced driver of cobra's. I got mine turned a bit sideways that first week as I wasnt used to 600 horsepower in a 2200 pound car.

Beware of charlie at Hot Rods by Dean, when he worked for John Panfill at Anthem motors they ripped me off for over 10g, and even though Charlie was just John's mechanic he knew the whole time the scam was in, I talked with him after that he did'nt have much to say.

I've talked with Charlie several times after he left Anthem. He's apologized to me a couple of times about the way I was treated by John. Charlie had nothing to do with the billing. All he did was turn wrenches. Same thing he does at Deans. Regardless, he's still one of the best mechanics around.

Thanks for the tip. I had an RUCC Cobra with a built 502 Chevy in it before this car (I sold that to get a CSX) so I know what your talking about!

Viper, since you had a car with a large Chevy engine, you certainly won't have any problem handling your new FoMoCo powered car. One thing you will have to get used to is planning farther ahead when you want to pass some one, OR, maybe put a huffer on it to try to get the power you were used to.

The car has 386 rwhp now.. I'll drive it for awhile and start planning for a stroker kit. It's got the aluminum Shelby block in it now. Does anybody know how big I can go with this block?

A shelby block is good for about 520ci max limit. I'd say 511 would be fine.

511! There is a scary thought. Lots of bad juju associated with that number.

Mr Viperguy, since we don't have a name, 4 of us just visited an Auto Museum in north Phoenix: Martin Auto Museum - Phoenix, AZ that has CSX 4205 the car in the opening website pan photo with 6 miles on it!
Also, Charlie has always been good to me even when at Anthem. As for Mr FordRacing65, Pete, keep your complaints directed at Anthem John. Charlie is one of our go to guys for cobra repairs and our number one guy for Shelby, Superformance and Roush.
