Islands Car Show
Guys,
I know I am an "outsider" at this point, but I have a question.
(I used to own a Backdraft when I lived in the Republik of Kalifornia, but sold it when I moved here. Dumb move. Not moving here, but selling my car. Dan may remember me from the 4th of July parade in Scripps Ranch in San Diego)
Anyway, I am now anxious to get back into car "stuff" in Arizona. So, I volunteered to help with a car show in my neighborhood (The Islands/Gilbert). The organizers are getting a bit worried about not having enough cars show up for this November 3rd event. I told them that Cobra guys are usually pretty interested in car shows. They are charging $28 per car for entrants. I told them I thought I might be able to get a bunch of Cobras, but I was not going to ask them to pay.
So, here is the offer. Are any of you interested in participating in the car show on Saturday November 3rd 9AM-4PM in Gilbert/Islands community center? If so, I can get you in for free and maybe even provide lunch (the lunch part is still a bit iffy)
For information, check out Islands Community Association - Welcome to The Islands Community! .
Please let me know. I will be there and would love to meet you guys.

Skip, I agree...a dumb move on your part although at the time it made sense. I will be hunting on 11/3 unless I get very lucky. If I'm back, I'll show up. I'm sure some of our other members with their cars will be happy to show. You might even garner a Pantera or two. I'll be in touch.

Dan,
Thanks for getting back to me. I hope you are back by the 3rd! That's a win for everyone.
Anybody else interested in showing off your Cobra in colorful Gilbert on November 3rd? Please let me know. To get you in free, you will need to contact me so I can give you the secret decoder ring. Or something similar! Ha!

Skip, as a rule, cobra owners are drivers and not "show"ers. Don't be discouraged. Perhaps some will show. Jeff Classic's daughter's wedding day is Nov 3rd so you know where I'll be. Yup, watching Jeff tear all day and hand out money.

Bob,
Thanks for the input. I know most Cobra guys would rather ride than show.
But, I also know that meeting someplace for coffee before and event and arriving all at once has a certain "charm" to it as well. I can only speak from my experience in San Diego. When our Cobra club would attend shows, we would meet before at an arranged spot, down some hot coffee and then cruise in formation to the show/event/whatever. Kind of fun all coming at once. And, OH the sound of a dozen or more Cobras arriving usually stopped the crowd in their tracks. Some fun.
I hope some of you AZ guys would can attend. It should be fun and I would love to meet you guys.

Skip we did that for the first Memories On Main Street car show in Mesa a few years back. We had 24 Cobras in a parking lot about two miles from the car show and traffic was stopped going both directions while people gawked. It was kind of an impressive sight. Maybe we should consider trying it again. Wish I was going to be here on Nov. 3.

Mike,
Great. I hope we can find some other Cobra owners to join you.
In any case, I am very glad you will attend. I look forward to meeting you and seeing your car. It may push me over the edge about getting another Cobra!
Here is my cell: 858-248-2058. Right before the event, I'll need to get some details so we can avoid entry fees. But, I'll take care of that! We just need to keep it a secret!

More cars!
Mike,
That's great! I'm anxious to see your cars and meet you guys. Not necessarily on that order.
Anybody else? Please keep the first Saturday in November in mind!
