Cruisin' on Central
Who is going to the Cruisin' on Central car show and cruise this coming Saturday? Is anybody setting-up in the Park Central show area or somewhere along Central Avenue?

This is usually a sad deal? No short burn out; cops ar every corner; less and less people show up; use to be fun but not bad if you just want to drive along Park Central  |

Well yes I decided to drive down on a cool night to Park Central? WTF! WTF! Drove stop go stop go from Camelback south??? Got close and the bloody Central was closed both ways? They had better had somebody dead or the rapture happened!? Why would you have an event and shut down the Main Street without putting signs up well in advance saying street is closed? City has screw lose or the organizer is anti car or it is Bush's fault. What a joke!

The cruise sucked. Phoenix PD were patrolling the area like a very large pack of angry dogs. They seemed edgy & humorless even with the spectators. What time did you get there Fitz? The sun set at 6:00 and the police began selectively sealing off lanes at 7:00, 2 hours before the event was to end. The show, cars, spectators, camaraderie were all still good, but the police sure put the kibosh on the cruise.

I was there for a few hours in the afternoon. Saw one clown in a Chevelle lite 'em up until the clouds of smoke from the burning rubber made all view of the two cop cars behind him invisible. When the other guy across the street tried it, the same two cops got him. It was crazy and people were acting very stupid. Then I guess that's the usual MO for these things.

Ms. Perry, the organizer needs to put a clamp on it, but that would hurt her sales. This event has been declining for a few years now. Soon the police and City of phoenix will stop it. They need to make it like Woodward cruise.
