Default Tucson, AZ. New Years Day run.

The Tucson, AZ Cobras will start their New Years Day drive from I-10 and Valencia, actually, the gas station to the southeast. Departure time will be NOON. Due to the cool temps we'll do a tour / drive around Tucson and end at a resaturant just south of downtown. If you have any question please call me at 825-9197.

We have 350 days clear with 15 days partly clouded. Good flying conditions also. Please keep this a secret. Otherwise everyone will want to live here.

The road to Mt. Lemmon has been closed for almost two days now, first it was a single car rollover that blocked the road and now it is because of the snow and ice. When it opens it will be for residents only and chains or four wheel drive. As I sit here and look out the window at Mt. Lemmon the clouds start at about the 4,000' level and go all the way up beyond the top, 9,225'. It's been raining here for the last tweleve hours so the drive up there will not be possible for the Cobras.

The studded tires that we used in Alaska are too old to use safely. Guess I should throw them away. It's still snowing on Mt. Lemmon, at the noon report they had over 11" of new snow. Residents only allowed to drive up.

You mean there are actually people that live up there?

It was a great day in Tucson. Seven Cobras, a GTO, a TR, and a Corvette made the drive sround the city of Tucson. It was 48 degrees at the start and 51 when we finished, all under clear blue skies. We toured some neighborhoods in Tucson that most of us had never seem before, a trip through the downtown area, and ended by driving many small streets in one of the Barrios to the south east of downtown. Our lunch was at a mini- brewery in an industrial area, it was very comfortable with great beer and excellent huge hamburgers. Thanks to all the guys and gals that attended.
