Default Lost a Lifter

Seems the exhaust side of the lifter set in the one hole decided to come apart on the way home Saturday. What a pain. So the Red Monster will be down for a while....again!

Sorry to hear that Dan. Are you sure that's not a Chevy motor?

Never learned about shapes. Can't tell a bow tie from an oval... They do kind of look alike.

Bob, It can't be a chevy motor. Karl and Jeff both drool when they see it and they are used to chevy motors..

Sorry to hear the bad news Dan. Give me a call if you want to chat about a few points I learned researching my fix. What type cam/lifter set up failed ... roller - flat tappet -solid? I do have a machinist and shop I can recommend. They just moved to a bigger location but have been here in town for a few decades and is a Ford guy for his own Toys. With a little luck it will only need a complete rebuild and not have hurt a bunch of of parts.

In todays world of stuff---sometimes when an engine leaves here about the only thing factory ford OR Gm oem is the cam thrust plate-----------

And I do want to make it perfectly clear that I'm a long time Ford guy ------------

Not sure the disclaimer will protect ya but I did think it was funny
I am running a chebbie in my own car but have to admit to not being able to think of a single GM part in the build. Wait, I do have a GM contracted intake manifold but that is it. All parts can fail although lifters and cams have been on the list too often over the past couple of years.

The metal from the lobe or lifter went somewhere, nope it went everywhere and you will need a good cylinder hone as a minimum.

Now hold on a minute guys.....if he hasn't checked it out, everyone could be jumping the gun.

Maybe the metering orifice in the lifter is clogged....maybe something is jacked up inside, but it doesn't mean the lifter is gone, the lobe is gone, and the motor is trashed.

Patience grasshoppers.

Danr,

"Bob, It can't be a chevy motor. Karl and Jeff both drool when they see it and they are used to chevy motors"

That's not drool. Its snot coming out of my nose from laughing so hard when Ford people try to go fast.
