Default Autocross November 9

The Arizona Corvette Enthusiasts (ACE) has arranged to hold an autocross at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving on Saturday November 9. They are inviting other sports car clubs & enthusiasts to join in. If anyone is interested please let me know via a post, PM, or email. I'll get details regarding registration out when they become available. Following is the information I have so far:
  • Saturday, November 9, 2013
  • 8 am to 1 pm or there abouts
  • Bondurant autocross track with some added skidpad area for extra course...
  • 2 Bondurant instructors on site (for insurance purposes)
  • 30 to 50 drivers will be $100 per driver
  • Helmuts will be required (Bondurant has a room full of loaners)
  • Drifting will be approved by the instructors if they feel you have control of your car (and senses)

Click here for a video of the Bondurant autocross being run in a Z06. This shows the longer 2-lap configuration that includes the high speed sweeper at the southeast end of the second lap. They may also set-up some tighter, technical stuff at the north end.

Also, ProAutoSports will be racing on the Bondurant West track that weekend. Some of us plan to autocross on Saturday and race on Sunday.

As it gets closer let me know and I'll get an email out. Not sure how many would be interested.

I would be interested to spectate!
We must have a few brave souls in the club, Karl may be one if he ever gets his Chevy, ah... ah... ah... Cobra back together! Lonestar Tom might be another.

mikiec: Will do. Thanks

RedSnake: I definitely want to try my Cobra on the course, but more importantly I want to kick some Corvette butt. I just don't have the power and gearing in my car to do it. However, I could have the race car at the track too.

Why would they want to invite a car, COBRA, which is going to completely make them look more like losers than they already are...How do you make a Corvette lighter??? Remove the drivers Gold chains, and the emphases is on CHAINS, plural...

"Some of my friends own Corvettes"

Given comparable drivers, most Cobras would be hard pressed to keep up with a modern Z06 or even the standard models with their puny 400+- HP. Love em or hate em, their braking, handling, and power are pretty awesome, especially for the money. That being said, I don't have one, don't want one. Give me my loud, obnoxious, smelly, rough riding, buckboard with a big mutha engine anyday. Also kinda cool to see what draws a crowd in a parking lot.

Owned a 77 Vette once. First and only one. The one I want now I cannot afford.

I went to the Corvette clubs auto cross once. Nice bunch of people. However, don't go there expecting to "kick some corvette butt". They do this all the time and are not afraid to drive their cars hard when doing so. I think one or two other Cobra's went when I went to my last Corvette club event in Tucson. I don't see many, if any, AZ Cobra's at track events here. The last event I attended was the Pantera club's event. There were two AZ Cobra's there and we had a ball. There we did kick some Pantera butt. Will be sure to do a repeat next april with the Pantera's again. In fact, I am going join them on a cruise up the Coronado Highway next month. So far I have seen about 2 people confirm they are going too. Should be a beautiful drive.

Dan, if you're counting me in your 5 for the Coronado Trail cruise, change your count to "5 snakes: 4 Cobras and 1 Viper". The Cobra is too uncomfortable for Christine on such a long cruise (back problem), so we're taking our Viper. It offers a more refined venomous experience.

Let her drive the Viper and you drive the Cobra. That way you both have fun.

Went to an X-cross shortly after getting my car. Thought I'd kick some butt.
Turned out to be a very humbling experience. Some guy shows up in a Budget
rental and seriously blows everybody away. Turns out he was a national champ
just in town for weekend! Anyway...point being it ain't about power in X-cross.

Hi, I am new to this site. I might attend the event, I will no more as the event gets closer.
How do I get on the AZ mailing list?
Regards
Dave
