I don't get miles per gallon, I get stations per mile
(SPM)

DanR,
We're not betting on your mileage, we're betting on how long your new motor will last. ;)
On the last Route 66 Fun Run I averaged 23 mpg after we got out of town. Not bad for a 340 hp crate 302 with a Holly 570 Street Avenger.

kevins2 07-28-2014 07:24 AM

I average 11 driving mostly country roads, so not "city" or "highway". By the way, my first tank was about 8 even though I was somewhat taking it easy. You'll likely get marginal improvement as well with a few more miles on the engine.

Clois Harlan 07-28-2014 07:56 AM

Maybe 6 or 7 mpg in town but I can really streetch to almost 11 mph on the freeway. About 4 mpg on the track ....maybe!

Danr55 07-28-2014 09:40 AM

Gee, thanks for that encouragement Scotty. You're right, that's not bad mileage for your cute little engine.

ItBites 07-28-2014 02:16 PM

I get 6-8 mpg in city. 11-12 mpg hiway. 3-4 mpg on the track.

Fitz 07-28-2014 02:34 PM

I get about 18 city and 35 highway:LOL::3DSMILE::o%/:rolleyes::LOL:

Karl Bebout 07-28-2014 03:55 PM

Fitz, "I get about 18 city and 35 highway"

What, in that sporty Prius?

Fitz,
What do you really get, we have the same motor?
Are you running a Holley 750 double pumper by chance?

Fitz 07-28-2014 06:22 PM

I have Levy stage 5.5 (408) but have few goodies like a Super Victor intake and Quick Fuel 850 carb with some Bob Reams tuning. I think I get about 10-11 but I set the Odometer every time I fill up and I get net nervous when I hit 100 miles. I never trust my gas gage.

DrDuc 07-28-2014 07:13 PM

I avg 13 mpg with a 408, radical cam and a Holley 750. With a 22 gal fuel cell I can drive farther than my bladder lets me, and since I don't trust my gas gauge, that's just fine.

Scotchman 07-29-2014 06:49 AM

If the club had a Cannon Ball Run I'd clean your clocks ! **):JEKYLHYDE**)

Danr55 07-29-2014 07:04 AM

Thanks Scotty, but I didn't know my clock was dirty. Karl, Bob...do you guys have dirty clocks for Scotty to clean? I guess he needs the money or something.

Roush #1 07-29-2014 07:11 AM

Best has been 15 mpg....worst 5 mpg.
Nearly 40,000 miles

Karl Bebout 07-29-2014 07:14 AM

Oh Scotty, you can come clean my...oh you said CLOCK ....... Never mind.

okiedokie 07-29-2014 07:21 AM

City & highway - 4.5mpg. This is a 302 with a new set-up of dual quads on a Trans-am manifold with also new MSD 6AL box, distributor and coil. Still trying to sort it all out.

GRUF78 07-29-2014 07:46 AM

Some sort of joke....Right??

WGAF....Its a Cobra...

GRUFF

okiedokie 07-29-2014 09:32 AM

No it's not a joke

Like I said,I'm still sorting it out. Trying to get the timing and the carburation set to where the motor is happy.

Large Arbor 07-29-2014 10:21 AM

I have not checked mine. Somewhat afraid to do so. If I guessed with the dual quads its 10-12 mpg. That is accommodated for in my annual gas budget.

Phil

I think I am a bit shy from spinning few times at track and almost did a 180 gunning it on ramp going onto I-17. Age is catching up with me / us. Time to get a Mustang go fast with nice seats, and Air.
Maybe trade someone of old man car.
