Default Upgraded AAA

I just wanted to let you all know that it only cost an extra $25 per year to upgrade from 100 miles of tow coverage to 200 miles of tow coverage.
After the Springerville trip I realized 100 mile coverage was not enough coverage.

I forget if they tow to the closest garage or to where you need to have the car fixed, ie, the facility of your choice. Some of the insurance plans also include towing with longer distances, so check that out also. You may already have that included.

Dan check your State Farm policy again. You forgot one very important word.. Qualified.. To my mind there are only two shops in Arizona qualified to work on my car. Brown and my garage.

I also have AAA and they'll tow to your house if that's where you want it. They'll also tow you if out with a friend and their car needs a tow, as long as the AAA member is there when the vehicle is picked up.

I agree Dan, but trying to get State Farm to agree to that may be another thing.
Plus when your sitting on the side of the road AAA has the fastest service from my personal experience.

First hand: My AAA covered the first 100 miles and the remaining 109 was on me. fortunately the tow truck guy (who was great!) charged me "only" an additional $350 to bring me to my house. He even helped me push the car up onto the lift, which was no easy task with the flat RF tire. (yes, I inflated it but every time it rolled to the bent rim area, the air escaped). Fortunately for me, my insurance picked up the $350 but that wouldn't have been the case with just a mechanical issue. The tow truck driver also told me to turn the bill in since it would probably come off my deductible, but getting it paid is at least a wash, one way or the other. Also, be aware, AAA will limit the number of calls they cover, in a year, so avoid the flat tire changes or battery jumps if you can, in case you really need the help. AND, I heard that on the premium plan, they'll pay for only one 200 mile tow, per year. Still, well worth the extra $25 if it ever comes to that. Right Peter?

My State Farm roadside assistance costs me $8 a year. They will tow you to the nearest repair shop that can properly repair your car whether that shop is 5 miles or 500 miles away. And you can use any tow service. Just as fast as AAA and much cheaper.

I've used it several times. No complaints.

"Yes one 200 mile tow and three 100 mile tows per year."

Funny how this is not mentioned when they are trying to sell a membership. I'm sure it burried in some teeny tiny small print. It my understanding that the three calls limit is not just for towing but for anything they offer. Can't blame them they need to make lotsa money to pay for the high dollar race car sponsorships they have. I have no complaints about AAA. Some of their towing companies, maybe, but I've always gotten my money's worth.
