Talking Really big fun

A bunch of us East Bumb-Screw Cobra guys (Mesa Mike, Hector Benetiz, Superstition Bill and Will, from south Flag) went to a AAA sponsored "advanced driving" class at Bondurant yesterday and yowzer, was it fun.
There were a total of 150 "students" broken down to groups of 20, or so. We had six different "modules" through out the day that started at 9am and ended a 4pm. A bunch of laps in 10hp go carts started my day, on to the skid pad. Could really tell the people that had not had the joys of driving on snow and ice. Accident avoidence, in new SS Camaros was next, followed by more Camaros on the timed autocross course. ( Hector Benetiz just smoked more than 95% of all the other drivers) A ride along in new '14 Corvette Stingrays, on a short (1 mile, maybe) road course was an exciting end of my day. One of the students used a GPS app on his phone to determine the 102MPH top speed. The driver knew his car, track, and ability. Lots of rumble strips and hard braking and cornering. Thrashed that vette! woo hoo! Thrown in the mix was a very good lunch buffet of charcoal grilled burgers, brats, and chicken with good side dishes, and then of course, the sales pitch for AAA auto insurance with their new gizmo for tracking your driving habits. (ala Progressive Ins, but without giving money to Progressive's uber liberal HMFIC) AAA paid $30K for the day, in addition to our $49@ entry and it was well worth it. Smiles all around.
