The whole trip plan (long)
Here is the Friday trip on Google Maps. Departure from 4 Sons Chevron at 10am. Just east of I-17 on Carefree Hwy. 83 miles later Chino Valley for pit stop & fuel. 60 miles to Sno Cap (lunch) in Seligman. (And pickup your entry package if you have chosen to do so.) Finally, 70 miles to Kingman Travelodge. We stay in the building in the rear. http://tinyurl.com/map3orv 212 miles total.
Friday night we can eat as a group at either the Dambar Steakhouse: Home- Dambar Steakhouse or Golden Corral Kingman: Golden Corral Or you will be walking distance from Pizza Hut, Berger King or Denny’s. Saturday morning if you are participating in the Seligman to Kingman Run on Route 66 then to the car show in downtown Kingman. Departure from Seligman is 10am. Breakfast & lunch are on your own. http://tinyurl.com/l4mrdpu 157 miles total Saturday night our tradition has been to collect funds and walk across the street to bring Pizza Hut pizza back for parking lot eating. By then there has been a lot of liquid consumed, cigars smoked, sunburning, bragging and burnouts. If you wish to proceed on the Sunday continuation run. Here is the route from Kingman to Golden Shores in Topock, AZ and back to the motel. http://tinyurl.com/k5c5jpo 110 miles then return to Phoenix via Route 93 through Wikieup, Wickenburg and on to I-17. http://tinyurl.com/m5zpzqs 166 miles. Or, you could join us on our traditional “Salmon Run” returning to Seligman via Route 66 for breakfast, then retrace our route back to Phoenix through Chino Valley, Prescott Valley and I-17. Here is the official Fun Run website: Arizona Route 66 Association AZ Bob |
Sounds like a great plan.
I've never eaten at Golden Corral but have a old timer buddy that swears it's good. Not sure I will do Seligman on Saturday but I will join you on Sunday there. This may be my Saturday plan.:D https://www.google.com/maps/dir/King...8!2d35.1677771 |
I hope the Golden Corral has figured out how to cook chicken.
Last time there it came out squawking and clucking. |
Dan, my normal Saturday plan since I've been going on this trip for many years, is to sleep in, breakfast and go downtown Kingman and park near Mr D'Z for the show. I shop the antique, thrift and pawn stores, review the vendors, cars and souvenir stores, then sit and bench race. Saves a lot of fuel.

That special "unlimited baby ribs" sounds pretty good :D

Hey Bob, Is Ginny going to mail several dozen cookies to continue the tradition? Sure hope so. Traditions are important.
|
Anyone want to run from Kingman to Seligman Saturday morning, then return to Kingman for the car show ? Squeeze breakfast in somewhere. :MECOOL:
|
Scotty, I think I will make the Saturday morning Kingman Seligman trip and return for the car show. I'd rather drive than sleep in on Saturday. :)
Keith |
D-rat. You need to join Scotty and Keith for the run back to the start. I have done it everyyear. Loved that party of the trip.
|
If you make the run to Seligman, be sure to follow and keep up with Paul. Ha Ha Ha!

You need to go to Laughlin and show you do not really need the entire parking lot. LOL

Ginny made the cookies and gave them to me to take to the PO. YUMMY.
