PRO AUTO Feb 28 - March 1

Greetings.

Is anyone going to be running at PRO AUTO at WildHorse this weekend?

I like the East Track, so I might run Sunday, not sure yet. I might bring Drew and some of his buddies Saturday to watch though.

Your comments are welcome now.

Several East Bumscrew folks are running Saturday. Mesa Mike, me, Hector, and Superstition Bill will all be running our Cobras. Mike's son in law, Steve will be trying out his newly accuired Formula Ford and other son in law, Wally will be driving Steve's Porsche. Really hoping for no rain. C U there?

I might watch Saturday.

I am heading to Pensacola Sunday, so no tracking this weekend. I am interested in the Pro Auto event at Chuckwalla, quite a journey to track though.....

If Karl is on the track you may want to watch from a distance.

Just sayin.:p

If Karl is on the track, I'd prefer to be in a helicopter. Just saying'. **):JEKYLHYDE**)

Since I no longe have my Chevy power, I can't always be in the lead. Just watch for me in your rear view mirror, and DON'T hit the brakes in a turn!

Karl Bebout 02-26-2015 09:39 AM

ARGH! FAT FINGERS and too many lost brain cells.

Karl Bebout 02-27-2015 12:21 PM

'Taint lookin good for the track tomorrow. We are so spoiled, living in AZ that when its not a sunny day, all our plans go to crap.

Karl Bebout 02-28-2015 05:19 AM

Hard to believe the weather forecasters changed their minds and are now not calling for rain until tonight. WooHoo! Gonna go abuse the Cobra!

Well this is embarrassing. Wrong thread.

Well, I just got back from ProAuto, sounds like a crappy day for Karl. Also, Mesa Mike took Drew for a ride in a session, very cool. Drew was grinning ear to ear. Thanks Mesa Mike.

Spill the beans on Karl, please.

Fast289 02-28-2015 05:02 PM

He stared the day with four wheels and ended with three....

Hopefully he didn't hurt the body at all.

Danr55 02-28-2015 05:27 PM

He broke another one?

Fast289 02-28-2015 08:56 PM

Karl was gone when we got to the track. Mesa Mike filled me in. I am not sure how much damage was done......

Just happy no one was hurt.

I bet he got hurt when he got home.
Might even lose his cobra keys for good this time.

Sometimes, shutzpah just happens. I had checked all my spinners and they were all tight. LR wheel came off anyway. Fortunately, I wasn't going all that fast when it happened and I kept the dirty side down. Left tail pipe is squished but I think a pipe expander will round it back out. The hub got "milled" down but not really hurt. The sway bar bushing bent, the inside of the wheel is chewed up a bit, and the most damage was to the trunk floor. The fiberglass tub is broken and a couple of the aluminum panels now need help. Fortunately, its all just pop riveted and after the last car, I'm very good at removing rivets and replacing them. I'll check with ERA about the aluminum panels and probably repair the tub, myself (or with a little help from my friends). I was wanting to spray the tub with truck bed liner to give some friction and now I'll be able to do it without lots of masking off. I'd planned on yesterday being my last time on the track anyway, and now that's definitely firmed up. A couple of the guys there mentioned that its a bad idea to place knock offs under such heavy stress when the spinners are aluminum and I'm inclined to think they are correct. The threads on both the hub and spinner look just fine but I'll do a closer inspection before trusting it. I did drive the car home, on surface streets and at fairly low speeds. Hector followed closely to let me know if there was any wabbling, which there wasn't. Pretty exciting, but thanking my lucky stars the body wasn't damaged at all. I'da sure had some 'splainin' to do.

DWRAT 03-01-2015 11:05 AM

Karl
Were you using safty wire on the spinners?
Glad to hear the body is fine.
