Confirming Karl
Checked with US DOA FS and either Tonto Day pass for you young ones or your lifetime National Park Senior Pass are good for the Saguaro Lake Del Norte Site which is where we are going to picnic.
Here is the confirming website: Tonto National Forest - Recreation Passes & Permits
Any of these passes are OK: I have the Senior Pass with the 2 red cactus flowers.
So for us old folk....no fees.

Bob, my card also has the cactus flowers. Maybe those indicate the cards given in the SW states? It has certainly more than paid for it self many times over. Either hector or Mesa Dave talked me into getting it, since we were real close to the ranger station in Mesa.

I tried to buy a pass online, it said, " Out of stock at this time!"
Will try again in a few days, if still not available, can they be purchased onsite?

No. You would have to go to a office of the US Forest Circus..er, ah Service or the Department of the Interior or BLM.

There probably aren't any such offices in North Nogales, where Ralphie hangs out.

ITSA COMIN'
Next Saturday is the annual AZ Cobras Picnic. I've heard from quite a few that they'll be attending. Everyone, well ALMOST everyone (he'll probably show up anyway) , will be welcomed, and open to the occasional derisive comment. Look back through this post for details.
REMEMBR a TONTO PASS will be needed for every vehicle.

Ralphie, I'll bet the clerk was referring to the senior discount that used to be given on the day pass. The Senor Pass, for almost all of the National Parks and Forests is still available, but only at the Ranger Stations for the Forest Service, or BLM, or Dept of Interior. Those kinda places, not at the entry gate, the Shell Stations, Wagreens, convenience stores, and such.

Ok, so the meeting place is the last picnic area, which is the furthest point after you go in the lake's main entry/guard station ?- Past both launch ramps, then drive about another 1/4 mile past the 2nd ramp to the picnic ramadas...right?
I'll get to the lake about 9am, but not with my Cobra. I've been doing some maintenance work on my boat, and I need to splash it to do some testing, and run some fresh water through all the pumps and flush the salt out, so I might as well kill 2 birds with one stone on Saturday. (or, kill two birds with one Tonto permit, as the case may be)
I'll probably just keep the boat in the water after I'm done, and will look for you guys near the picnic ramadas. There are a couple docks near there I can tie off at.
Lake tours will be $5 per person, hahahaha.... (just teasin, but if anyone wants to go for a boat ride, then hey, why not )

Attendance by boat will be an historic first for our club picnic.
BTW, Robert, you are correct in your assessment of the picnic location.

Hey Rat Boy. Sorry to bail on you Friday. I had a major oil leak that Karl help me pinpoint today. It seems I neglected to plug the oil dip stick access on the driver side rear of the block. I use my oil pan access. We filled the hole with silicon and are letting it set up. I will probably put a JB Weld patch on top too. Not sure if I'll drive the Cobra or take my truck to help Karl haul stuff to/from. Hope to see you there.

No problem Mike, thanks for at least attempting the run with us.
I heard you turned back a bit before Payson.
Glad to know you made it home and now found the problem.
Not sure I would patch it like you are, how about magnetizing a tap and getting a metal plug in that hole???
