AZ/CA/Any Cobra racers March 19 20 Chuckwalla
Hi, I will be tracking Carmen on Sunday March 20 at Chuckwalla, I can't make Saturday the 19th. Is anyone else going to this event?
Cheers

Yes, I will be there fri, sat, sun but my cobra is not ready for the track. I will be crew chief on a Formula Ford open wheel racer. Look for us around the big semi with the cars nested around it.

And, thanks to Karl, you didn't need to buy one for the last whole bunch of years, while you wore out my canopy. HA!

Hey Karl, I repaired that pop-up once. And, as you know the sun here tends to dissolve fabric that is exposed to the sun. So there. LOL Maybe I buy a new one and charge Steve for it, even better.

Wasn't the fabric. It was the fine "off shore" plastic joints. I'd think that if Steve pays for a canopy, it should be his.

Shoot, I need track tires. Anyone ever run Hoosiers? I have 15" wheels. I have three BillBoards, yes, I know I need four to track her. The BillBoards don't last long.

I run the NITTO NT01 but they only have 205 and 225 in 15". I have a set of 17" wheels I use just for the track but also run 17" on a different set on the street. Maybe you can just buy 1 billboard for this weekend? I went to All Mustang Performance salvage yard and got a set of Cobra "R" wheels for about $200. 17"x9.5" and 17"x10.5" for the rear. The size of NITTO 17's I run require those widths. Many more brands to choose from in 17". If you have no clearance problems you might use the above for track.

I think I am gonna get one billboard.
I always think about going to 17" for the track, but 17" diameter wheel and tire packages are quite a bit smaller than the 15" wheel and tire package. If I go with 17" my car drops close to two inches. I would be way to low. I could adjust the suspension or raise my pipes, but it seems like a bunch of work to track her.
Plus, BillBoards look, cool and actual handle well on the track, that's my opinion.
See you in the Desert.

Fun day with Mesa Mike at Chuckwalla. Really fast track, technical in some spots and a big banked turn!
It was Hot, but that didn't take away from all the fun.
Congrats to Mesa Mikes son in law for his first victory in Formula Ford!

Great to have a fellow Cobra owner put his car through the paces. Nicely done Dave. Too bad we ca't get more interest out there. Pro Auto Sports would build a class around us if we were to get 8 or more cars out there. I know of only 4 guys that regularly track their cars. Pro Auto is a track event not a race unless a race class were to be put together. Right now they have 3 classes for general public, Red, orange and green. For racing they have a Miata spec class, Formula Ford open wheel class, unlimited class and maybe some others. I have watched a Jeep Liberty take the course in the red class. All types of cars, just pick your class and go drive for fun.. Learn driving techniques and how to handle your car, entry and exit points and flag definitions. Lots of fun but it's getting to the end of the cool days here. Maybe one more next month then move to California for the summer to cruise Napa Valley or Lake Tahoe.
